much needed info for the shelf exam 6 Oct 2007
By James Cho - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
to be honest, i bought the book during my obgyn rotation and never touched it. i was told by classmates that i could pass the test by just doing casefiles, so i did... and i passed. but i didnt do as well as i could have, and later as i studied for the USMLE step 2, i realized how much of the material i really had not learned. i went back to quickly read this book then, and it had all the info i was missing.
Solid Resource for Rotation 17 Dec 2010
By Lindsay - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Overall, this book was really helpful not just for the shelf, but also for the rotation. I felt that most of the information covered on the shelf exam was represented in some form in this book - very high yield. It was also a great outline to take notes in from practice questions and other resources you might use. My biggest complaint is that breast disease was not covered at all in this book, and there were definitely questions on the shelf exam regarding the topic. Also some of the information was outdated (screening recommendations for pap smears, availability of the new implant for contraception), but a newer edition of this book just came out last month, so maybe these things have been fixed. Regardless of the changes, it's still a book I'd recommend.
Pretty basic but well organized and good review 29 July 2010
By jmsinnott - Published on Amazon.com

This book is good to read through while on the rotation and covers a lot of the important topics i think. It is pretty basic and you will definitely need to be reading other sources while on the rotation, but this is a good base.
