The title of this book is misleading. It was printed in october 2003, long before the release of the beta version. Instead you should get yourself a copy of ASP.NET v. 2.0-The Beta Version, written buy the same authors, but printed in august 2004.

Don't make the same mistake as me. I thought this book was the first one on ASP.NET v2.0, but it isn't. It was written before the release for the beta version - the title is misleading. As every one intereseted can see, it was printed in october 2003, while 'ASP.NET v2.0 - the beta version' was printed in august 2004. If you want to be up to date with ASP.NET, you should get yourself a copy of 'ASP.NET v2.0 - the beta version' instead.

If you're after information on the new ASP.NET 2.0 features, this book delivers, but it does suffer from very variable writing styles and the amount and quality of information varies widely between chapters.
This is not the book to get if you want to develop using the Whidbey beta, it's more of a 'preview' book, giving general info on the new features. Best to wait for the Whidbey beta and pick up a book then (since ASP.NET is likely to change quite a bit by then)
