This cable is exactly what it says it is, and I am sure that a few people will be suspicious of it because of its very low price. Firewire = IEEE 1394 = iLink
I use this to connect my Sony camcorder to my HDD DVD recorder (also a Sony) and it works very well, the home movies I have transferred from tape to digital media have not lost any quality. The HDD DVD recorder is able to control the camcorder. The cable has the small end type connector of the firewire type connector and not the big end found on PCs or Audigy sound cards. This connector is also named iLink, which has an i symbol with a swoosh stripe through it. They are all one and the same thing.
In summary: this is a cheap cable but really it is all you need. If your camcorder has firewire and you use the usb port, I would suggest you look into firewire as it has wider bandwidth.
