Book Description

Unprecedented. Never has such a universe of entertainment and education been packed into such a small package. Amazon's Fire TV has three times the processing power and four times the memory of any competing home-electronics gadget. It's truly a premium product at a bargain price.

Fire TV brings a menu of more than 200,000 movies and TV episodes to your fingertips. It's a huge, open ecosystem of entertainment. Plus, it comes with access to the best video games.
The Fire TV, the little box that plugs into your HDTV, provides instant access to every leading video-streaming service--Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, WatchESPN, and Showtime. New movie releases are available for low-cost rentals. And the FireTV brings much more of your personal media to your TV--photos, home video, and music. You can play slide shows and find specific photos. Photos or videos you take on your phone or tablet can be uploaded to Amazon Cloud Drive and appear on your TV within seconds.

Here are the must-have features Fire TV delivers:

  • Voice search that just works. It's perhaps the biggest leap forward with Fire TV. No more scrolling and pecking letters from an alphabet grid, you simply mention the name of a movie, TV show, actor, director or genre.
  • Every leading streaming-video service. They're all available on your TV, plus a world of music--Amazon MP3s, Pandora, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, and more. With X-Ray for Music, lyrics display and scroll line-by-line automatically as the song plays.
  • World-class performance in a tiny box--a quad-core processor with more than three times the muscle of the competitors, Apple TV, Chromecast, or Roku 3. True HDTV plus Dolby Digital Plus surround sound.
  • Ready to use, right out of the box. After you order your Fire TV from Amazon, the unit arrives pre-registered to your Amazon account. Just take it out of the box, plug it in, and start enjoying.
  • Advanced Streaming and Prediction (ASAP), which predicts which movies and shows you'll want to watch, and pre-loading them for you.
  • High-quality gaming without the expense of a game console. Enjoy games like Minecraft, Monsters University, The Game of Life, The Walking Dead, NBA2K14, Asphalt 8, and much more. The average prices of Fire TV games is a measly $1.85.
  • Revolutionary parental controls. You can choose what your kids see and you can set time limits for the types of content and times of day. No more arguments at bedtime. FreeTime Unlimited provides an all-you-can-eat subscription for kids aged 3 to 8.
  • More than just a gadget, Fire TV is a seamlessly integrated service that manages your entertainment experience, including features like:
  • Whispersync--Preserves and synchronizes your video and music library across all of your devices. You can start watching a movie on your Kindle Fire tablet, then switch to your living-room TV. The video resumes exactly where you left off. The same is true for games, you can switch devices seamlessly.
  • Worry-Free Archive--Your digital content is automatically backed up to Amazon's cloud. No worries about losing your collection.
  • Great customer service--With Amazon, help is just a phone call or email away. If you're using your Kindle Fire, you can tap the Mayday button for live assistance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Basic, but informative 26 Oct. 2014
By RMacc42
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A fairly decent introduction to Amazon Fire TV. Perhaps a little basic & short, but it seems to have most of the information one could be looking for as a beginner to FIRE TV.
I'd already bought this US version a long time before Amazon Fire TV came to the UK(because I was so keen on getting it as soon as it came to the UK), but it is still basically the same(apart from some of the apps available).
Worth having as a quick start guide to Amazon Fire TV.

1.0 out of 5 stars Incomplete Kindle & print versions 19 April 2014
By Barbara Olds - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Both the print and Kindle versions of this book are incomplete. The print version is woefully short and lacking on details beyond what Amazon provides in the official user manual. To make matters worse, even if the Kindle version is updated with new features, the print version won't be, so you'll be wasting $9 by buying it. The last third or so of the book is just a list of apps that are displayed right on the front page of the Fire TV and, again, will be out of date before you know it. The grainy black & white photos in the print version don't help at all, either.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great source for the new KindleTV! 20 April 2014
By Gary R. Brown - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a great.source to get the understanding of the KindleTV! I especially liked the advanced feature of mirroring or using the Kindle Fire HDX with the KindleTV. I pretty much understood everything else because of ease of use. Highly recommended for those that need to get the most out of the device. I have Prime so I just borrowed the book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Why would I buy a user manual that should come with the product in the first place? 27 April 2014
By LDW - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Sorry but I wasn't born yesterday, Seriously. This is a shame that this is for sale and not included with the hardware.

1.0 out of 5 stars bought by mistake 1 May 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I know that is not the fault of the publisher but after reading it found that it was totally worthless.
No one should need the book to figure our Fire TV. its nothing more than basic set up info.
anyone that can figure out how to turn on a tv can figure out how to run fire tv without spending money
on this book.
I bought from a mobile app without actually seeing what I got on an impulse.

Don't waste your money, like I did.

1.0 out of 5 stars HATE THESE "USERS" WHO TRY TO CAPITALIZE ON OTHERS LIKE AMAZON 4 May 2014
By SDBUYER - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
AS ANY FIRE USER WOULD KNOW, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO PURCHASE THIS MANUAL. FIRE REALLY IS PLUG AND PLAY AND THE MENUS ARE REALLY EASE TO USE. AMAZON SHOULD PULL THIS ITEM FROM SALE ON THEIR SITE AS IT'S FRIVELOUS AND TOTALLY UNNECESSARY.
