Fire Dreamer 30 Sep 2007
Format:Hardcover
After Star Dancer, when Tegen is surrounded by druids and family, it seems a little strange when she begins to stretch out on her own, to Mona. I think that it's written really well to show Tegen's growth as a person and as a character, because she gains her independance and does what she thinks she should...she has to act on gut instinct as she has nobody (except possibly Owein)to go to for advice.
The new wave of evil is the bit that was weird...needless to say, it gave me the creeps! (but for those who haven't read it, I shan't expand so not to give it all away!!) After Derowen and Gorgons in Star Dancer, this makes Tegen much more vulnerable, not wrapped so much in cotton wool any more. She has also grown up some more, and is coming into her own.

Fab read...and I can't wait for the next one!

The story is about a teenage girl called Tegen, who was announced to be the long awaited star dancer in the first book of the series, "Star Dancer". She is destined to save the world from evil using her gift of magic. At the beginning of the book Tegen is waiting for an opportunity to travel to the island of Mona, so she can complete her training and become a druid. This opportunity is presented to her and so she continues on her epic journey, where her past comes back to haunt her. She must use her newly found fire-magic, but with the shadow walker watching her every move she must be careful not to fall under his control.

I thought the book was difficult to understand at first, but this only because I have not read star dancer, the first book in the series, so I originally did not understand what was happening. However, the more I read then the more I understood and it eventually became very clear about what was happening. I really enjoyed the story and it found it extremely exciting at certain points in the middle of the story. The only problem I had with the story was at the beginning of the story where it was slightly boring and there was also sections where Tegen was constantly travelling where I almost lost interest. Overall, I definitely enjoyed the book and I found it exciting, thrilling and enjoyable once the story got going.
