Product Description

Formed in 1985, by singer/bassist Mem V. Stein and guitarist Ray Mensh, Exumer released two albums in 1986 (Possessed by Fire), and 1987 (Rising from the Sea), that are regarded as some of the most cult thrash metal releases ever to come out of Germany. Exumer was also one of the first thrash metal acts to capture exotic, foreign markets like Poland and Brazil, where their albums were domestically released in the 1980s. The subsequent tours that followed those releases secured the band live shows in front ofthousands of fans and an unusually large following outside of Germany. Plagued by line-up changes and internal turmoil the band broke up in 1990, and did not perform live, with the exception in 2001 at the prestigious Wacken Open Air Festival, until 2009.
Mem and Ray decided to re-activate Exumer in 2008, and the band embarked on their first tour since 1988, where they played five shows in April/May of 2009. The "5 Nights of Fire Tour", took the band through Europe (Germany, Holland, Greece), and the USA, where they headlined the "Thrasho de Mayo Festival", in front of 1300 fans in Los Angeles.
In 2011, EXUMER completed writing and arranging material for their first new album release in 24 years. The band chose Waldemar Sorychta (Grip Inc., Therion, Sodom, Moonspell), to produce their 10-track strong, hard hitting CD. Combining punishing production with aggressive song writing, Exumer manage to capture the intensity and feel of the 1980s thrash metal gems while attaining modern sonic density.

I have to admit I am a real sucker for all these reformations of the older Thrash bands, one by one over the last decade they have reformed and released some blistering material (take note Phil Rind cos your gonna have to step up at some point), being 42 its comforting to know that the bands that shaped my life as a long haired teenager are still wanting to make music and get out on the road touring, this connection vindicates my 27 year obsession with Metal - if they want to make it then I want to hear it mentality, but that's because to this day the power of the riff awakes the adrenalin inside, in 2012 Exumer released their comeback Album Fire and Damnation and its brilliant, it rips its way through every song and they are classic, the title track and Vermin of the Sky are pretty special but my highlight is Fallen Saint, aggressive speedy thrashy goodness, I have no complaints with this CD at all which makes a change, the music and lyrics are all pushing the edge (lyrical content is a bit risky being played in front of my kids) and it sounds as modern and relevant as anything else released of the past 10 years, all in all it was a very nice wee surprise - don't just take my word, hit the button and buy it.................

I have patiently been waiting for this album since 1987 and after so many years, twenty five to be exact I am not disappointed at all. From the start this album kills and gives me goose flesh from head to toe, WOW!!!! If you have heard Possessed By Fire and Rising From The Sea then you know these guys deserved to be bigger than Metallica!!! It was a shame that many of the eighties thrash bands released a couple of albums and then faded into oblivion especially in this instance. Exumer were an aggressive thrash band at the time when thrash was morphing into death metal but because of their record label (Disaster Records) going out of business they and their label mates Angel Dust and Mandator disappeared over night, what a pity. Angel Dust made a strong come back in the nineties but it fizzled out after a further four albums on Century Media added to their initial two albums on Disaster Records. This album contains ten tracks, eight which are new and two that are re-workings of earlier material (Fallen Saint and I Dare You) which are all brilliant Thrash Metal monsters. Exumer had a very American sound for a band hailing from Germany and were contenders for the throne of thrash as they were more accessible to the English speaking world than Destruction, Kreator, Sodom or tankard. Exumer had a mixture of Slayer and Exodus influences to their style but they weren't clones, they still had their own identity. If you love hard, harsh Thrash Metal then you need to buy all three of their albums.Fire and Damnation

Possibly The Best Thrash album of 2012. 22 Feb 2013
By Deimos - Published on Amazon.com

Well this how you make a real comeback album. This thrash masterwork is literally as great as their first two killer thrash releases, name a single band that can make an album today where you can't tell if it was released now or when the band started. This is a true gem and raised the bar on how to make a full throttle, return album. From start to finish this album blows you away, kicks the crap out of you then comes back for more, this is pure, no BS classic thrash at it's best. \m/\m/

I heard a couple of exumer's songs on Pandora and loved them. When I found the CD here on Amazon i decided that it would be a great gift for my guitar teacher. I got it on the day it said it would and I gave it to him the next day, and he is looking forward to listening to it. Great gift to give someone who's a fan of metal.

Decent release. Cd worth picking up. I saw these guys last year, first time ever . They were really good, but Malevolent Creation took the show away from all the bands.

Love the album! I'm kind of new to these guys but not the vein of music, hey when I'm 100 I hope someone turns me onto some great classic thrash I missed out on! Solid quality thrash/death metal from veterens of the era! None of the crap they play on radio that's passed off as ''metal'Just like the other reviews here, this album is great & I think you'll enjoy this fine recipe well done!
