An Opera 8 Oct 2010
By Artist1 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This is a tremendous album. I have heard Mr. Cheevers in concert twice, during which he performed songs from this album. The album is virtually an opera about a young lady named Friona (20 years his junior) who he fell in love with in the UK. He tells about how they met, courted, and fell in love. The tune "Roses" is especially good.

A Sentimental Snoozefest 14 Sep 2009
By Michael Smith - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Why is country music with a British twist often such a snooze? Breaking not with tradition, Austin resident Bob Cheevers serves up a platter of boring tunes, Notting Hillbillies-style. But not just boring. The lyrics are trite, sentimental codswallop. He's singing aboug the girl with the golden hair one minute and then he's bringing a girl in a bar a bouquet of roses the next. Here's a sample of the lyrics: "Sometimes you lead, sometimes you follow, sometimes you walk through this world alone..." This reviewer must confess that he didn't listen beyond the first six songs. Even if things picked up at the end, the artist would still have to answer for the damage inflicted by the those first six. Give this one a Frisbee-flip out the window.
