5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book! 5 Nov. 2013
By Lucy
I loved this book! I was so engrossed in it, I read it in less than 24hrs and can't wait for part 2... If you read part 1, it says at the end of the book that you can get part 2 sent to you free of charge from the author himself by going to his website: [...]
I thought Finn McCool Rises was like a cross between Highlander and Game of Thrones. It is a Scottish fantasy adventure that weaves between modern day Glasgow and a Scotland of a different, more heroic age. It is funny and magical and I would recommend this book to anyone. It was a really exciting read and I look forward to finding out what happens to Fiona and Fionn next...

4.0 out of 5 stars Superb read 5 Nov. 2013

An enthralling read as the plot takes you across and through the curtain between times. From the present day to ages mystical, the characters develop the story with, at this stage, more questions than answers. Looking forward already to Part II.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable read 8 Nov. 2013

In all honesty, when I started the book I wasn't at all sure about it. Once I got into it, however, I really enjoyed it. The story is about an investigative journalist on the cusp of a big story who is rescued from danger by a stranger and wakes up in a strange location. It's part fantasy, part political drama.
I read it very quickly, couldn't put it down, in fact, and am really looking forward to the next (free) installment on the author's website.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting read. 10 Nov. 2013

As someone interested in ancient Scottish, Irish and Scandinavian history, I read this book with some enthusiasm. A fairly short read, there are good descriptions of Celtic legend, switching quite quickly to modern day Scotland. Shades of Nigel Tranter here so would recommend this to any fans of his literature.

I loved this read as I was whisked instantly away into a wonderful fantasy land from Present-Day Scotland. I already care about the characters and cannot wait for more (much more) of Finn McCool and the passage from Age-to-age.

An excellent read that has you engrossed as you follow the characters across time. It's fantasy meets politics, with the politics being very relevant to anyone in Scotland right now. The author does a great job of telling the story in a way that keeps you wondering, which is exactly where I am now, desperate to find out what happens next, as I eagerly await part II.
