2.0 out of 5 stars Good item, abysmal customer support. 12 Aug 2012

I purchased this item last week with hopes of using it for my xbox 360 and for the DVD player. I set the little TV up and began testing all of its features, and they all worked brilliantly. The TV was operational for around 1 hour before the screen became distorted and jittery, then the TV just refused to turn on any more.

I contacted their customer support and was promised a call back within 2 hours. 5 hours later and still no contact from Finlux. I messaged the seller through Amazon explaining my problem and enquiring why I received no call back, and he apologised about that and promised me another call back the following day. In hope of this call back, I waited in my house all day for this call, but to no avail. I then decided to contact them myself, adding more to my phone bill, where I was met by an out-of-hours operator that had no clue what I was talking about. She then told me I'd get a call today.

The exact same thing happened again, no call, so I phoned them. After taking countless unnecessary details from me for the third time, the employee offered me yet another call back. I declined and demanded they pick up this broken TV and that I receive a full refund.

Overall, the television itself, from the limited use I had of it, was very good. Picture quality was excellent and the sound wasn't bad for a small TV.

However, I strongly suggest you find another company to order from as their customer support is absolutely atrocious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable! 19 July 2012

Having had to return 2 tvs (from other companies) I couldn't believe how good this one is.
1st it looks good in our bedroom as it is a lovely silver grey.
2nd the picture is good - don't bother with hd ready, get full hd.
3rd the sound, whilst not brilliant, is acceptable for a bedroom tv and we have been able to get rid if extra speakers that took up space but were necessary for the other 2 tvs.
4th the epg is not only good but enables you find a programme to record (on a flash stick) and saves a programme so that it will change the station to that one when it comes on - no missing the start of your favourite. Our main tv doesn't do that!
5th you can pause the programme - if the phone rings for instance- and then play when required or record the programme you are watching - ideal if you are too tired to watch to the end of a film.
6th the remote control is large, easy to use and understand. The 2nd tv we tried had the worst remote possible, too small and the butttons so close together I found a lot of double digit channels! There was no photo of the remote on their site but they very kindly sent me one when asked. I do like the chat on line function.
7th the price is fantastic for the quality. It actually dropped 20 the day after I bought it so I was not well pleased but they have given me and extra year's insurance - hmmm!
8th It arrived early in the morning the day after I ordered it.
All together - well done Finlux (who I had never heard of before)

BUYER BEWARE! I had 2 replacement television of this model and both had severe design, technical and supplier service faults! These issues are as listed and I have the emails, photographs and film:

RECORDING
1. The advert states that the television can record television programmes onto an external storage item e.g. via a USB memory stick. However, if you want to record television programmes you can NOT watch any other television channels other than the programme you are recording! Otherwise, you will have to cancel the recording (not able to record a television programme completely) and then you are allowed to watch any television programmes you choose. In summary, this television does not allow record-and-view-channels - you can only elect one or the other! This is obviously not informed by Finlux to potential buyers on the sales advert.

2. Recordings I had made on a USB memory stick is not listed on the "Recordings" page i.e. all recorded television programmes are missing! The bottom on the Recordings page clearly shows data usage from a USB memory stick e.g. "Gigabytes Used" and "Remaining" yet no recorded television programmes or partial recorded list is listed.

3. I have used several USB memory stick and they are not the problem - USB memory sticks are very simple, basic items and unlikely to be faulty. It appears that a weakness of this Finlux TV is that when you take the USB memory stick out and put it back in, the television programmes that has been recorded is not then shown on the Recordings page or sometimes not all the recorded TV programmes appears. Therefore a USB memory stick needs to be permanently left attached to the USB port of the TV. Therefore, how are I suppose to see recorded films that my friends lends me or I wish to lend to them?

1.0 out of 5 stars Shocking. 6 Sep 2012

Sound is ok and picture is ok. Got this tv mainly for the DVD and USB but neither work!!! DVD come up with 'no disc' even when there is a disc in. And it won't recognise any USB device!! Thought I found a good deal here but clearly not. REFUND PLEASE! Also the customer helpline were useless. They got back to me quick enough just to tell me sorry nothing we can do. It does look nice but on closer inspection (about a metre away) you can tell its cheap.
