Product Description

The Lady Templars are a secret society. Their group consists of thirteen women at any one time.
Each has committed an undiscovered murder. Thirteen women, thirteen stories. This first tale starts with the introduction of a new member to the group. She tells her story in the hope of admission. Membership of a group in which she can gain absolution. A group which will allow her to use her skills by way of penance for her sin, and if they don’t admit her, she is at risk from their knowledge of her act of murder. Finally, it is only when one member elects to leave that another can join.
How did the prospective member find these women?
She didn’t. They found her.

Finishing School is the first of the series, telling the story of a disaffected GP who decides to leave London and return to her roots in Yorkshire. Can you really go back? If you do, what happens when the memories start to return to you?

Dr Lillian Richards is a practical woman not given to flights of fancy but when she arrives in Sheffield she finds the history she thought to be true starts to change, and with it – her sense of self.

It all begins when she finds the dead body of a school-friend hanging in his childhood home. Her search to understand why he would have done this leads her to question the events of her past... and their intrusion on her present.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a predictable read 21 Jan 2012

I was recommended to buy this book and how glad I am that I did, being able to lose myself in the story it helped to pass an hour and a half train journey when I had to stand, very handy having it on the Kindle. I very much enjoyed the unexpected twists and unpredictability and look forward to the next offering from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark matter 1 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This exiting new author has found an original twist on the mystery/crime thriller. The story hooks you in and then develops with a pleasingly slow burn, much like, Jo Nesbo, or, Stig Larssen with a Pd James like Britishness thrown in.
Definitely one to watch, highly recommend

5.0 out of 5 stars How do you deal with the ghosts of your past...if you can't remember it? 27 Aug 2012
By J. Wozniak - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The first in a series of 13 novels that tell the story of Lady Templars, a secret society in London made up of women who literally got away with murder, Finishing School has all the elements of a good mystery novel: a murder, suspense, psychology and well-developed intriguing characters.

It tells the story of a new recruit to the secret society, Dr. Lillian Richards, a single mother who finds herself questioning her current lifestyle, unsure of the next step to take. Her inner-struggle prompts her to return home to Yorkshire from where she escaped to London to pursue a medical career. Once home, she finds herself dealing with the suicide of a close childhood friend which brings about memories - ghosts from the past - from which she cannot seem to free herself. The struggle to remember and makes sense of her past reveals gaping holes in her memory, distorted truth and cover-ups.

The author's exploration of Lillian's psychology, her thoughts and her views on what happened to her as a child is captivating enough to make you forget that she in fact is a murderer. The nature of the murder she commits is not revealed 'til the end and yes - it is a surprising twist. Lillian recounts her story to the Lady Templars in hopes of being admitted to and be protected by their secret society. Although it is the catalyst for everything that happens to her since, the murder itself has been blocked out from her memory. It is the journey to bring those painful memories back that creates an intriguing plot and keeps you wanting more. If only I had time I would've read the book in one sitting!... And already I'm anticipating the next book in the series!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
