HASH(0x9063e330) out of 5 stars Fingerstyle Love Songs 8 Dec. 2008
By Michael Goh - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I don't think you would go wrong if you buy Bil Piburn's books. The songs are beautifully arranged and the CD itself is worth the price of the book.

The pieces can be challenging and are not written for beginners...but worth the effort if you can invest the time to master them. If not, just enjoy listening to the songs being played in full on the CD itself.

This book is fantastic. It is a drop above my level. I've learned 2 songs so far: "How Deep Is Your Love", and "Dream a Little Dream Of Me", two songs I always wanted to learn. I am so much the better guitarist after learning these two songs. The arrangements are so full and interesting. I'm on to "The Very Thought Of You", which is equally challenging, but this book motivates me like no other I've ever had. I recommend it for intermediate players. I wish he had 100 other books like it. I intend to learn every song in this, then go onto his other books.

HASH(0x90e037e0) out of 5 stars Excellent guitar arrangements 27 Mar. 2009
By Raul Corcuera - Published on Amazon.com

This book deserves five stars because the guitar work is well thought out, and it offers a great variety of popular romantic songs arranged for fingerpicking guitar. As usual, Bill Piburn's guitar arrangements never disappoint those guitarists who are at the intermediate to advanced levels.

HASH(0x9113a594) out of 5 stars Beautiful sounds, but hard to master. 19 Aug. 2015

Beautiful arrangements but somewhat over harmonized-if you can play any of these advanced tunes, you'll be able to make stretches from the second to sixth fret and get comfortable with numerous altered jazzy chords(unlabeled, so you'll need some theory to modify uncomfortable fingerings or just leave out some middle harmony notes that give trouble). Some of the tunes use artificial harmonics in time while fingering and plucking chords-his nylon stringed guitar works better than my steel stringed acoustic, but I like my strings over his nylon, for almost all his tunes. I wouldn't call any of the songs in the intermediate level-they'll all take many hours to master even for advanced players. The CD is worth the price if you can't play the tunes but like solo guitar.

This is a great book. Arrangements are clear and interesting, with just enough challenge to make them interesting. I recommend it for those interested in learning fingerstyle guitar music.
