Book Description

25 Aug 2009

Tuscany is one of the most aesthetically beautiful of the world’s wine regions and is the greatest, most original and ancient producer within Italy.

This guide aims to present the wines of Tuscany, as well as the other regions of central Italy, in such a way as to give the reader an understanding of what to expect from them and where they stand in the spectrum of the world’s wines.

Complete with over 100 colour illustrations, Nicolas Belfrage’s book focuses on the major areas such as Chianti Classico and Montalcino, as well as exploring lesser known but equally delicious wines. It covers the wide range of grape varieties used in Tuscany, as well as looking at the individual growers who have helped establish the area’s growing reputation.

This magnificent guide, published in conjunction with Fine Wine magazine, makes a fabulous gift for all wine connoisseurs and is an invaluable guide for people looking to explore the world of Tuscan wines.

This book is part of Aurum’s prestigious Finest Wines series whose books on Wines of Champagne, Bordeaux and Rioja have received acclaim at the Louis Roederer Wine Writers Awards, André Simon Awards and the Gourmand Wine Book Awards.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tuscan Heavy Study 8 April 2010
Excellent first 6 chapters displaying the extensive knowledge author has accumulated. Needs further referencing. Opinionated, but well justified as grey areas in the industry continue to emerge.

Photography excellent throughout capturing everything, but too person centric. Written coverage outside Tuscany just sufficient and viewed as almost an afterthought to widen the area title.

Good holiday read and reference book for Tuscany.

4.0 out of 5 stars Coffee table style but smaller 19 Oct 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase
This is essentially a 'puff' for some of the major producers. Glossy, but not heavy on fact or evaluation of their products.
