The World of Fine Wine magazine is a very high end publication aimed at those with an almost fanatical interest in the subject of wine, it is beautifully produced and in both layout and its wonderful illustrations is a treat to the eye. This book on Bordeaux is the third in (I hope) an ongoing series of such works from the editorial team of the magazine the others being The Finest Wines of Tuscany and The Finest Wines of Champagne.
Produced with the same attention to detail and quality of copy as the quarterly publication these books provide what is essentially a series of vignettes of the key producers, their wines, and what makes those wines what they are. Fascinating family histories and portaits of individual characters provide the stories behind the wines and help to make these books an invaluable reference source as well as being eminently readable and perfect to pick up and dip into. If you like decent wines you should love these.
If I had a criticism (albeit of the barrel scraping variety) it is that they are all uniformly bound in a semi-soft cover which as with everything else is of high quality but will it stand up to constant use?
