Over the years, Louise has managed to survive in the cruel pop world where solo female singers come and go one album later. This compilation comes just over a year after her Greatest Hits package prompting many to ask why it was neccessary.
I personally think releasing an album combining unreleased album tracks with some singles is a great idea, especially since she has so many unreleased gems on her 3 albums - especially the 3rd, underappreciated 'Elbow Beach' which was packed with quality tunes, out of which only 2 got released.

Having said that, the choice of tracks by EMI are a tad strange. There are some great choices, like the excellent Woman in Me, and the ballad 'Never Too Late' from the Naked album. 'In Our Room' from Elbow Beach is a sexy, groovy masterpiece, while 'For Your Eyes Only' was just crying out to be released, jazzed up a bit, complete with a striptease style video. First Kiss, her anthem to husband Jamie, is also a typical catchy Louise tune, with a melody that sticks in your head instantly. Leaving out the insanely catchy 'City Boy Fix' however, just baffles me.
'Who Do You Love' and 'I Pray' off the Woman in Me album were also strange choices, often recognised by fans as being some of the weaker tracks, from an album which had several unreleased gems such as 'When Will My Heart Beat Again' and 'Love Will Bring You Back to Me'
Overall though, Louise has produced some quality tunes over the past 7 years, and many of these are represented on this album, which somehow, does not truely do her justice.

Just over a year since the release of Louise's Greatest Hits and her departure from EMI, the record label are releasing a Finest Collection Cd, but are these really her finest hits? Well, not really. The album contains tracks, both released and unreleased, from her three studio albums. Just who does EMI expect will by this CD? All the die hard fans? Unlikely, as they will already own all the tracks featured on this collection.
The songs are nice, it's just a shame EMI have to pick at every opportunity to get money from their artists (or ex-artists in this case). Louise's fans will save 15 quid and wait for some new material, which will hopefully be soon!

One has to to wonder why this album is even being released...all the songs on this album are available on previous albums. It seems like a desperate attempt from EMI to rake in a bit of money within the Christmas period. However, if you are not a massive Louise fan, and don't own any of her previous albums, this album is perfect. It includes her best hit singles, and highlights from all of her 3 studio albums, and a few remixes have been thrown on there as well. Its also being sold at budget price - and your getting 18 tracks worth of decent music.
Overall - not really necessary - but an excellent purchase for all Louise fans who don't own any of her previous albums...
