George Clinton and Funkadelic were a lot different band when they recorded with Westbound Records. Their music was much more psychadelic and experimental. It was also more guitar driven and it was when Funkadelic was recording with Westbound Records that they captured Eddie Hazel's best work. This CD is a compilation of the most popular songs that Funkadelic recorded while they were with Westbound records. The best part is that it provides the full tracks of classics like I Got A Thing..., I Want To Know If It's Good To You, Cosmic Slop, Red Hot Mama, Standing On The Verge..., Get Off Your A** & Jam and Undisco Kid. The one exception, and the only downside to this CD, is Maggot Brain. Instead of the full version of Maggot Brain, it provides a live version that feels cut. Still, this CD is definitely worth buying and it deserves five stars for it's compilation of Funkadelic's other great Westbound era recordings. It's not necessarily a substitute for the other Westbound era CD's but it is certainly the best starting place. The best starting place for Funkadelic's music after they left Westbound Records is One Nation Under A Groove.
