Format: Paperback
This is by far the best book in English (and, I think, better than almost any in German, French or Italian) on the techniques of fine binding. The language is clear and lively, the sections explaining the rationale for each step are thoughtful, the step-by-step instructions are clear. While I applaud the printing of the rationals in a contrasting manner to the steps (the former are in black, the latter in red) I have difficulty reading the red print. It is a pity that a different colour scheme was not chosen. The photographs are not as clear as they might be; but perhaps the economical production will put this book into the hands of many who may not be able to afford a more lavish edition. It should be on every bookbinder's shelf. It will not stay there for long -- it will more usually be found open on the bench or, as my copy is, on the bedside table.
