Book Description

Steve Carter's follow-up to the # 1 kindle smash 'Love, Sex and Tesco's Finest Cava' is another, hilarious romantic comedy.

Faced with the realisation that his stunning girlfriend has been having an affair, Andy McLeod takes the decision to radically change his life. An errant dart thrown at a map leads him to the beautiful, Andalucian city of Seville where he enrols on a yearlong, intensive Spanish course.
As Andy embraces his new life he encounters a disparate group of characters. There’s hippy-chick Saffron who seems to have a bad word to say about everyone except Andy,
Mad, philosophical Swede Johan, whose liver surely won't last the year and who takes anything that's not nailed down.
Feisty, redhead Maggie, whose clever comments and sassy attitude has Andy in a pickle.
Then there's the dark, Sevillian beauty Marilo, who also has designs on Andy.
And that's not to mention the mysterious Sergio who introduces Andy to a brand new club scene.

As Andy's year races by, he becomes convinced that destiny has something amazing in store for him in Seville.

But destiny doesn’t always turn out in the way you think it will. Life and love can sometimes force you to make some very tough choices.

Can Andy make the right choices?

Set against the cultural backdrop of Moorish Spain 'Finding Yourself in Seville' is a romantic comedy about finding love in unexpected places. It's also a novel with a very clever twist.

Praise for Finding Yourself in Seville:

Annie from The Three Little Buhos blog said:

‘I wanted to share with you the latest book I've finished; Finding Yourself in Seville by Steve Carter.
I picked this book up on Amazon mainly because Daniel and I are planning to live in Seville for a year in a couple of years’ time so I was drawn in by the title.
In short, I really enjoyed this book.’
‘I would recommend it not just for the element of romance or the easy to digest style of writing, but also because of the clear depth of research and knowledge that the author has put into writing it. The way in which Seville and the Sevillanos are described is perfect and honestly captures the essence of the wonderful city.’

More About the Author

Steve Carter is a writer that divides opinion wherever he goes. On the one hand some people think his books are turgid and unfunny, but on the other hand his mum doesn't.

His first novel 'Love Sex and Tesco's Finest Cava' is universally hated by librarians from Berkshire, yet it has been downloaded over 60,000 times (mostly by a computer programme he bought on the internet), making Steve one of the richest men in his house.

These days he spends his time whiling away the hours in a guesthouse in beautiful north west Skye and wondering how the hell he ever managed the time to write anything.

In the meantime Steve's homage to Adrian Mole 'All You Need To Know About Foreigners' is available for the completely rip-off price of 99p.

Andy, is twenty nine and has it all. Good looks, good mates, a snazzy apartment and a stunning partner, Rachel, who adores him... or so he thinks. When he finds out from Doug, his best mate, that Rachel has been bonking his boss his world falls apart. Down, but not out, Andy turns misery into money; he, sort of, blackmails the boss for a handsome sum and heads to Seville (why Seville? well that's where the dart struck the map). Although he has vowed to give his broken heart a complete break from beautiful women he finds Seville has distractions at every turn.

This is another, clever, witty, humorous take on love, by Bloke-Lit maestro Steve Carter, who's characters are never dull and never ever perfect human beings: Andy, for example, is sensitive and moody but always boyishly charming. Rachel has legs to die for but is a spoiled brat. Maggie is nice but sloppy, Doug is not the perfect pal Andy thought he was (can't say more about that character, would be too much information). Gay Sergio is a lovely, gentle, guy but an absolute tart.
They all end up in the same apartment which makes for some very funny scenarios.
..................

If you like wit and humour in your reading material then you will love this engaging, moving tale. It will make you smile if you are male, female, straight, gay or anything in between. If you haven't read Steve Carter's first stroke of genius 'Love Sex and Tescos Finest Cava' then give that a go too. You will laugh your proverbial socks off.
I loved this and give it 5 stars. Mary

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great read!! 12 Aug. 2012
By Monica

I was looking for a Sevilla guide since I am going there for a few days in October and I came across this novel.

I must say I didn't like the cover that much but since it was was pretty cheap I read the book cover, and within seconds i was hitting the "buy now" button.

Having been a flatsharing student in a new city myself, I immediately fell in love with the book characters: Andy, food-stealing-Johan "el Sueco", and lovely Maggie.

It was the first book I read by Steve Carter but definitely not the last. I love the way he writes. I swear while I was reading I could picture and hear Maria screaming with her strong Sevillan accent :-)

5/5 stars to this book because it was beautifully written, funny and romantic but it also touched serious topics such as aids.

I think i'll have tapas for lunch and plan my trip to Seville.
Well done Steve Carter!

I basically read the first book, told Steve I liked it via Twitter and was recommended this one (by him). Well it was a very amusing read and I finished it very quickly. Withour giving away to much, I did particularly enjoy the gay bar scene. Would recommend to anyone else who is considering purchasing this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it and didn't want it to end! 28 May 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was one of the wittiest and most original books I've read in a long time. Given that I read a lot, I find many books are written to the same formula. This book however, is wholly original in both its content, setting and characters. Just when you think you have the characters all worked out, they surprise you with more depth and grow with each page turned.

The book provides an intuitive observation into the lives and loves of characters who both enchant and amuse in their quest to find their utopia of all things important to them. The writer provides this in a way that is believable yet captivating without any over romanticising.

I can't wait for the next novel!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended 18 April 2012
By Kate
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was one of the most enjoyable books I've read in ages. There's no frantic plotline or gripping tension, but it's a complete delight. Very funny, with wonderful characters and written with real wit. It was one of those books I wanted to keep reading just for the sheer enjoyment of the world the author creates, and was sad to reach the end and know it was over. All the characters are believable and come across as individuals, not just 'paint by numbers' plot devices. And no I didn't guess the twist at the end either.

Recommended for anyone who savours good writing, and would like a pleasant and amusing amble through (not quite) a year in Seville with a very likable hero trying to find his destiny.

Really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were all so good and I couldn't wait to get to the next chapter to see what they were all up to. It was a light hearted story with lots of amusing parts. I haven't read any of the authors books before but I will look out for more now.

5.0 out of 5 stars I didnt want this book to end 15 Jan. 2013
By DAFinch
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read Steve's first book "Love, Sex and Tesco's Finest Cava" and loved it so much i was wary of reading this one in case it didnt live up to it. Well it did.

I loved this book from the first few pages and was hooked by the characters immediately. Andy, Johan and Maggie are people we would all love to know and in the case of johan have probably shared with him. This book is so well written you could almost feel the atmosphere in Unfriendly's and hear Maria shouting.

As the review title says, i didn not want it to end.

I cant wait for the next book Steve.
