Do not be put off by the title - this is a very well-written book and is accessible to all. You do not have to be an academic or be steeped in Ricardian history to enjoy this book. It is a step-by-step, detailed telling of the work which went into the discovery of the body of one of the most interesting Kings of England and gives an insight into untold hours of painstaking research by the Looking For Richard Team as a whole, and Philippa Langley and John Ashdown-Hill in particular. It has been said already, but bears repeating, that without them nothing would have happened and Richard would have remained in his hastily prepared grave. The book has a number of appendices, containing, for example the exhumation licence and the appeal which raised the funds to ensure the project was able to take place. The bibliography provides an excellent starting-point for those who want to extend their knowledge further. This is, in essence, a detective story - a piecing-together of many different strands of investigation. It is also a tribute to the belief and sustained efforts of a few individuals to whom we should all be forever grateful.

An excellent account of how Richard III was found by a group of dedicated and lovely people, with information going back several years. This includes the struggle to get approval and support and the costs involved. This is detailed historical research which almost exactly pinpointed the location of the body, and the difficulty of obtaining funding. These people have worked hard for Richard and have been practically airbrushed out by those in power in Leicester. This book gives the true evidence of the process of finding Richard's remains. The appendix giving the transcript of the agreement for the project is especially interesting. The book is full of information, and anyone who is interested in the truth about the search for Richard should read this

Excellent background to the systematic quest to find Richard III's burial place. Good context to the recent TV coverage of the re-nternnment and public service.

The reaction is to say 'I didn't know that was how it happened'.

If you want to learn to true account of how a small team of very dedicated people managed to discover the remains of King Richard III then this is a must read. With tons of background info on what went on behind the scenes long before Leicester University were involved, the years of research and perseverance involved. It is a shame that once they had approached Leicester University, the University appears to have felt the need to re-write a lot of what went on and sideline the Looking for Richard Project - as without their initial efforts Richard III would still be underneath the tarmac.

A stunning and, at last, truthful account by the people who instigated the search. A pleasant change to read an account from people whoknow what they are talking about and not just interested in the publicity and gain.

Very clear explanation of the history of this excavation, rather biased to the Richard the third society but never the less fascinating , quick to read and very informative.

Fascinatingly detailed account of how the research of Phillipa Langley and others led to the discovery of the remains of Richard III. An error in Ch.8 (Facilitation) needs correction, namely the duplication in para. 3 of several lines that have already appeared at the end of para 2., i.e. 'Langley had already secured ..... by a leading historian)
