A fast moving crime thriller, jogging through in Mid Sussex, who would have thought!
Let the Americanisms pass you by, then enjoy the plot. I enjoyed following the action through familiar places, (although if I was in a rush to get from Burgess Hill to Horsham then I would have taken the shortcut through Warninglid, not all the way through Cowfold!)

This book was reviewed in my local paper as it takes place round my locality. It was great fun pounding the streets with the heroine around places I know well. The Americanisms are irritating -our protagonist is supposed to be English and wouldn't use some of the expressions the author uses. Amusing storyline and I'd certainly recommend anyone from the horsham area to read it!
I hope the author composes more about this protagonist but gets someone English to help him edit it before it goes into print.

Picked this up expecting a gritty crime thriller? Then there's every chance you'll be disappointed. However, picked this up wanting a quirky, tongue-in-cheek read and you are in for a treat.

Of course there is nothing original about female superheroes. Indeed Rachel Davenport also goes by the name of Nadia Penric in homage of Diana Prince alias Wonder Woman. However in Rachel/Nadia we have a unique and very modern creation. A one time beauty queen and three times winner of Mastermind who, 'not that smart, just knows a lot of stuff', she fancies herself as a something of a vigilante out to solve crime in what is quite frankly an implausible and yet fun story.

My only criticism being that once again here we have a novel in which 'Americanisms' start to creep in. And OK whilst it could be argued that such Americanised expressions now form part of the English vocabulary I'm afraid it just doesn't sit well with me and in this instance made the character of the otherwise very English Rachel seem less authentic.

Forget the earlier occasional negative reviews. This is the revised edition of the book that takes account of the initial criticisms. A well-paced great read, ideal for the beach, the train or plane. Seemingly normal provincial English towns afflicted with the surreal and funny antics of a self-styled less than perfect crime fighter. Not Catwoman but someone more real. A fearless young woman who believes in justice, does good, finds herself and love. After you have read this book you will never walk down the High Street again without wondering if that slim attractive young woman who just passed you by is really who she seems.

I read Michael's blog,so I was interested in reading his novel. It was good, moved at good pace. A few of the characters could have been a little more developed, but overall I enjoyed the book. Hopefully he will write another one!
