The new film from Roger S. Omeus, Jr.(Finding Me), Finding Me: Truth tells the tender story of Fabien Allen (RayMartell Moore) as he tries to uncomplicate his life and romantic entanglements. Forced to acknowledge and reconcile his naïve nature, this tall, dark and handsome young buck develops a series of unlikely relationships whilst simultaneously trying to capture the heart of his true love again. Meanwhile, his two best friends see what is really happening and try to keep Fabien in check all the while tackling their own dilemmas. A rare, thoughtful film, Truth explores the depth and intimacy of friendships and the uncertain path of life and then asks how decisions can be forged in the midst of it all.

There's a lot to like about "Finding Me: Truth", but the flaws in this sequel to 2009's "Finding Me" sadly outweigh the positives.
We rejoin Jersey City friends Faybien (RayMartell Moore), Greg (Eugene E. Turner), and Amera (J'Nara Corbin), all of whom are struggling with romantic issues of one kind or another. Added into the mix is toxic Jay, Greg's unwelcome roommate, played by Maurice Murrell.
Murrell, of course, died suddenly earlier this year, aged just 32, so it's nice to be able to report he's one of the best things in this film - shamelessly stealing every scene as a poisonous bad boy bent on taking everyone in his path down with him.
Moore is cute as pretty boy toy Faybien and, when he's given enough to do (blowing his top with Jay comes to mind), proves he can act. Corbin's Amera grates, however: she shrieks her way through the movie, bulldozing her way through every scene like a drunk drag queen in a funeral parlour. It's supposed to be funny, but every appearance has the same effect as fingernails on a blackboard. Dial it down next time - sometimes, less is more.
The film's producers have decided a revenge attack on whitey is the best way to make up for lack of black visibility in gay cinema: The two white characters who appear are deliberately distasteful, particularly Jay's friend Neal. Intriguing that each and every one of the black actors are (more or less) dazzlingly attractive, whilst Neal is a nasty queen who looks like an anemic weasel. God bless separatist America and all who sail in her!
Still, it falls to Neal to deliver one of the movie's most apt lines. "I feel like I'm watching three different TV shows," he remarks during a disastrous dinner party. You are, Neal, and they all air in the daytime.... Read more ›

Loved this sequel to Finding Me. I think that it is even better than the original. Great to see all the original cast members return for this film. Highly recommended.

Wonderful, Touching, and Funny

I loved this movie even more than the first one. I think the first one , though great , became a little one dememtional in focusing primarily on Faybien and lonnie. In this movie we get a deeper look into the lives of Greg , Amira, and Jay.
We also meet some very interesting new characters that add to the drama and excitement. Some people complained about the ending, but i actually lied it. Like with the first movie , writer director Roger Omeus left the audience with the feeling that there is more to come. I know I would want to see how Greg juggles fatherhood and his wandering sexuality, how Faybien and Lonnie adapt to a relationship, and if Amira actually ept her man past the final credits.
The one missing element of coursr would be Jay, but eerily and ironically, the last image we saw of him in the film would lead us to believe that he met a bad end.
Finding Me Truth is worth watching and owning. I definately hope that there is a third part.

This movie was wonderful. The cast set a whole new bar in Black Gay Cinima and the director/writer should be very proud of himself for the great work he did on this project. I saw the first one and while it was a good movie it was hard to follow due to some editing issues, but this one more then makes up for it. Always had a great story and now this one brings the production up to the level of the writing and acting where it should be.

finding me: truth was not as good as the first movie (finding me). I wanted see more about everyone relationship, but it did finish the movie series.
