To forgive is divine…if he can pin his lover down long enough to beg for it.

Poconos Pack, Book 1

Ben Malone’s role as Marshall attunes him to every nuance of the pack’s wellbeing—which means he’s forced to feel every one of his mate’s hangovers. It’s the one reason Ben will never claim Dave Maldonado. Being alone is better than being with someone who lives in a bottle.

Dave was destined to be a pack Alpha until his first migraine hit at age fifteen, the day he caught his future mate holding hands with another boy. In the nine agonizing years since, he’s contented himself as Beta, but never learned to live with the pain and confusion of Ben’s rejection.

Dave’s worst attack yet sends him to the hospital—and brings them both face to face with the misunderstanding that’s kept them apart all these years. It’s too late, though. Dave is headed for Gay Pride Week at Disney World with one goal in mind. Forget Ben Malone.

Ben’s got a problem with that. Only one man is destined to hold his David. And he’ll give anything, even his last shred of pride, to win forgiveness—and the right to finally claim his mate.

Warning: This book contains explicit sex, graphic language, and male/male love scenes between two top dogs. Who knew Rock Paper Scissors could be such fun?

Finding Forgiveness is the 1st book of the Poconos Pack. Its Ben and Dave's story.

This was in my list to download as I saw it as coming soon on Dana's website and as soon as it was available to buy i did. The book all is all male/male sex scenes so if that's not for you then I wouldn't recommend it BUT I didn't have a problem and found the book to be hot!! the rock, paper, scissors scene made me giggle! I await the 2nd of the series and will definitely be buying it once its available. There are some characters from both the Halle Puma series and the Halle Shifters book but not so much that you are confused. I have read them and they were all brill. I'll put links to the 1st one of each series so give them a look over if you haven't already. Happy reading!!! :)

Bear Necessities: Halle Shifters, Book 1
The Wallflower: A Hunting Love story, Halle Puma Series Book 1.

This is a fun story that has continued from the Halle Puma series. Please note that this is a novella and only about a 60 page story, so not much book for your buck, but a good light read all the same.

Should have been longer 5 July 2011

Briefly, Ben and Dave are supposed to be mates. However, despite efforts on Dave's part Ben has stayed away and they have never consummated their relationship. Ben has made assumptions about Dave that are unfounded which end up having consequences. Dave on the other hand has decided he is done waiting for Ben and intends to go find a new partner to assuage his misery. Ben comes to his senses because the big misunderstanding is clarified with the threat of being kicked out of the pack. Ben goes to Disney to find Dave, he apologizes, wears a shirt, them have sex. They go home and everyone is okay and makes jokes at the end.

It was a cute story and I would probably have been fine with it except for the fact that I expect more from the author and the price. This book was so short, and the last 20% of it was made up of samples from other Samhain books including the same book. For the subject material and the price I expected more. Also, if you have not read the other books in the Halle series, you would not know which way to turn or how this world or relationships works. So it's not a story that is complete in and of itself.

The actual story is 1356/1688 locations. So it's pretty darn short. I have read the other books involving this world in the past and liked them. However, there was barely an inkling that these two were meant to be together. So when I heard theirs was the next book, I was curious to see how it evolved. Honestly, they deserved more time because I had a really hard time accepting years of mistrust and recriminations being cleared out over a week of sex, mating bond or not. To me, the issues in terms of old trauma from an alcoholic parent and migraines (presumably secondary to another misunderstanding) are not the kinds of things you work out in a few weeks. Essentially, the story overall strained my disbelief, especially the miraculous disappearance of the severe hospitalizing migraines after the official mating. I get the feeling the author was trying to say that they occurred because of the unfulfilled bond and misunderstandings but I couldn't sustain that. I could really see the blackmail behavior potential, oh if you aren't nice to me, I will have another migraine. In essence I have a hard time believing that at the end of the day these two would really be able to stay together and be happy, bond or no.

Superficial and incredibly short. 12 July 2011

I can't believe I'm saying this of one of Dana Marie's books, but wow, what a disappointment.

The story line is good, I'm not disappointed with that. It's that the book is so incredibly short. It had the feel of a book she dashed off one Sunday afternoon. Or perhaps a short story/essay/assignment for a Uni course that she decided, years later, to have printed.

I won't go into what it's about, several reviews already cover it quite eloquently. What I will say is there was no depth to the story and character lines were not developed. It was so brief and superficial it could have been a couple of discarded chapters out of one of the other books. After all Ben & Dave's years of history, she really could have done so much more with this story.

I was also expecting it to contain some continuation to the `Bad guys stalking the Hale Pumas and Pocono Wolves' plot from Bare Necessities. But considering it hardly touched on its own plot, I guess it was too much to hope it would continue that one along.

I just hope this doesn't set the bar for books to come. And I won't be falling into the trap of pre ordering another one, that's for sure!

Something just a little bit off 7 July 2011
By Jane Butler - Published on Amazon.com

Let me start by saying i really really liked most of the book (hence the four stars)..EXCEPT, the love scenes. There was just something not really realistic about them, like they were written by someone who is kind of just guessing about what goes on between two guys. Which shouldn't be true about this author as she has written M/M scenes in the past and they were fine/normal/believable. There is just something about two gay men who have had previous gay relationships but are put off by (i.e. don't want to do)certain acts that gay males usually do, that is really off. It kind of pulled me out of the story. Anyway, if you like this series, it isn't one to skip. But if you're a fan like i am, well we both know she could have done better.
