5.0 out of 5 stars All you need to know 21 Jan 2010
By Wooster
Format:Paperback
I was self employed for 15 years, and now teach a 'Start Your Own Business' course at evening classes. This is my recommended course book, as it contains everything you're likely to need to know. It's the only book I know that is updated and reprinted every year, with revised financial information and phone numbers etc. Practical down-to-earth advice written in an easy to understand way. Thoroughly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful resource 4 Jun 2010

Useful and up to date - a comprehensive general reference. I would recommend this if you are only going to get one book. Deals with freelance/sole trading and partnerships as well as limited companies, and gives useful critique of the differences between these different forms.

This really is "THE" business startup book for UK based entrepreneurs - unlike many of the 'airy-fairy' "do-these-exercises-to-see-if-you've-got-what-it-takes-to-succeed-in-business" books around (though there are some small sections that suggest you take a look at the skills and experience you have, this book concentrates on the more practical aspects and legalities of setting up a business in the UK, whether you're just wanting to set up something small to do on the side in your spare time or jump in full time and are thinking big, there's advice for people with all types of aspirations, and being updated annually, it's just about as bang up to date on taxation and legalities as you can get.
