5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 7 Sep 2007
By Dragon (Northumberland) - See all my reviews
I know for a fact that many people have actually bought this book and are using the methods contained therein because of the questions that they are asking about certain technical indicators etc on bulletin boards. You know who you are!
Having read this book, I'm not surprised because it is truly inspirational so I'm somewhat chuffed at being able to write the first review (while all you other chaps are busy trading no doubt).
If you are looking for a structured, systematic approach to your trading then this is the book for you. I read it from cover to cover in 2 days and I've been re-reading it as a reference work ever since. The author makes no grand claims (like others I could mention), it is a modest, unpatronising fund of an immense amount of accumulated wisdom. The central image of the book - the idea of climbing a mountain and what you need at each stage- works very well and I was slightly ashamed to realise on reading this book that I hadn't even adequately covered base camp! Needless to say that I quickly remedied this.
Any cons? Not many that I can see ...perhaps a little too FTSE and Sharescope-centric but again the author is describing what works for him and it's good to walk before you can run.I think there's a slight mathematical typo on p.259 and it should read £4 for every £10 invested or £40 for every £100 but this is nit-picking (and my sums may be wrong).
Other than that, I can't really fault this book and I wouldn't wish to...I've learned a lot reading it. Warmly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE FOR ALL SPREADBETTERS, 4 Oct 2007
I bought this book a few months ago when I started spreadbetting. It has been an invaluable resource and I am always referring to it. Every page has valuable information and I keep on re-reading certain parts. It teaches the fact that spread betting is not a game and you have to have a systematic approach otherwise you'll lose money. You may still gain from studying technical analysis in more detail though this is also covered somewhat in the book.Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A definite one for your trading bookshelf!, 24 Sep 2007
I liked this book and it followed on nicely from The Beginner's Guide to Financial Spread Betting by Michelle Baltazar.

It covers the important areas of Psychology, Methodology and probably most importantly Risk Management. I was expecting more on the Technical Analysis side but this clearly seems to be a big topic in itself which is evident by Malcolms reference to recommended books for further reading.

If you are serious about trading you should read this book.
