Product Description

Book Description
The Final Theory presents the first truly comprehensive and
viable alternative to mainstream scientific beliefs, showing how a simple
overlooked principle in nature finally explains and resolves many of the
mysteries and paradoxes in today's science. Expand and liberate your mind
with simple, sensible explanations for the most perplexing problems in
physics today - without having to be a science scholar. What actually is
gravity and how does it operate - is it a force, warped space-time, or
something else entirely? Is anti-gravity possible? Is the speed of light
truly a limit? Is faster-than-light communication possible? Does light
truly have a dual wave-particle nature or has it simply been misunderstood?
What does Einstein's E = mc2 equation actually mean? What is the true
nature of energy? Are the new additions of "dark matter" and "dark energy"
to our science really proper, and do they solve anything or just deepen the
mysteries? The new scientific perspective in this easy-to-read book takes
the reader through a wealth of compelling answers to the many unresolved
questions that still plague mainstream science today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it or hate it, at least be skeptical, 20 Jun 2005
This book is very compelling. When I was reading it, I really wanted to believe it. After reading it, I knew I had to investigate the opinions of both physicists and non-physicists to gain a more objective view of The Final Theory. I hope I can now use my knowledge to give a fair review of the book.

The reason that this book is so great (and the reason I give it 5 stars) is that it is extremely thought provoking and ambitious. The ideas in this book are a great source of inspiration for intelligent and creative people. Mark McCutcheon has made a tremendous effort and deserves a place in history, even though he has been harsh in his dismissal of previous physicists.

In just 417 pages, McCutcheon makes a very ambitious attempt at taking an alternative theory and using it to describe the nature of the universe and all the particles within it. During this process, he attempts to solve some of the big unanswered questions that have arisen in previous physics. He also makes similar claims relating to flaws in previous physics, not all of which seem justified. The Final Theory is just the beginning of a possible theory of everything, and needs to be expanded on to fully explain some of the important observations that scientists have made in the past.

While the majority of people will really enjoy The Final Theory, some people will be unable to accept that all of the physics they learned in school could be wrong, or perhaps they will misinterpret the shortcomings of the book as proof of The Final Theory's inconceivability. It is a mistake to dismiss The Final Theory just because it does not yet match up to standard theory (which is backed by decades of supporting experiments and observations). However, it is also a mistake to immediately believe everything in The Final Theory. There is no question that it is a brilliant book, but it pays to be skeptical, just as McCutcheon has been skeptical of standard theory!

5.0 out of 5 stars A New Scientific Perspective, 17 Aug 2005
By Sheldon Sinclair (Cambridge, UK) - See all my reviews
Imagine it is actually possible for an idea to come along that rewrites our entire 300-year science history, setting it back on course and clearing up all the confusion, mystery and paradoxes. Imagine that this new idea truly explains our world for the first time, using plain language, compelling logic, clear diagrams, straightforward math, and supporting evidence across all known observations, experiments and thought experiments. Well, there is no need for me to imagine this anymore after reading The Final Theory. I now see everything so clearly, and for the first time in my life I feel I am seeing the world as it really is (and always was without me even realizing it)! What more can I say? Read this book if you have ever shaken your head at the science headlines and said "I KNOW there MUST be a better explanation!" There IS! Read this book if you are searching for a truly viable way to finally free yourself from the mental trap we are all locked within by the iron grip of today's "one truth" ubiquitous scientific dogma. What a relief!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, 1 April 2005
By Greg Harmon (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews
As an early science buff, and now physics graduate, I have always had a keen desire to understand the universe. However, I have had to accept that either our science has been running off the rails more and more as time goes on or the universe is a truly strange and incomprehensible place. Regardless, I never thought I would actually see a truly sensible and fully comprehensive explanation for it all in my lifetime -- until now! "The Final Theory" is absolutely fascinating in all aspects! It has such depth, clarity, and viability in so many areas that it is definitely a strong contender for the ultimate 'Theory Of Everything'. It not only has all the hallmarks of a truly final explanation -- the first one I have ever seen -- but I can't seriously fault it in any crucial area. At this point it certainly looks like I may just have read the ultimate explanation of our universe in my lifetime, and I am absolutely thrilled!!
