As the other reviewers suggest, this book is a shock for Linda Davies' fans. Gone are the strong women of her earlier books, also missing the wonderfully detailed insights into the world of high-stakes finance/banking. All that Morganna Hutton (such a trite name) knows about money is how to spend it. Oh yes, she paints a bit, too.
This is a romance, not a thriller. What's with this trend of great thriller-writers selling out to produce pulp romances? Michelle Spring did the same thing last year with The Night Lawyer. It's maddening! Weren't the good novels selling well enough?
Here's hoping that Davies comes to her once-sharp senses and gives us more strong women and dangerous action.
