Mimi said...
Final Justice is a fast-paced thrilling follow-up to Impeding Justice
(which is a must read). The words, "He's back!", gave fair warning of
another wild ride with DI Simpkin's nemesis, whom readers learned to
despise, from Impeding Justice. Mel Comley had the foresight to allow
us an ah-hah moment with insight to the psycho's reasoning. That blew me
away...but I totally got it in hindsight. Readers can easily identify
with DI Simpkins character, her frustrations of a woman working in a
man's world of police work, and her utter fanaticism to track down the
vile criminal known as The Unicorn.

This is the third book in the Justice series, currently there are five books in the series. The first is Cruel Justice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down ! 7 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Blimey, it's not very often I read a whole book in 24 hours, but this one just did it for me. I really enjoyed the first two installments, and this one didn't disappoint either. The focus on Lorne was most welcome, and it's rather nice to find out that she's not just supercop and supermum (or whatever you are when you try to be the best of both), she's also a woman, with her weaknesses and her faults. It makes her more credible as a character. Even though that means there is a bit less action compared to Impeding Justice, it's still an awesome chase all across France.

And the Unicorn deserves a nomination for the baddie of the year.

I am SO looking forward to the next book in the series ! In the meantime, I'd better go and catch up on some sleep !

2.0 out of 5 stars Descent into French farce 7 May 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I quite enjoyed Impeding Justice and was looking forward to the sequel, but it was nowhere near as good. Not only did it lack the sense of threat and menace of the first book, but the plot was too simple and implausible, the characters had become caricatures and the writing was riddled with clichés, clunky dialogue and irritating use of unnecessary italics.

I probably won't bother with the prequel, as I don't care about these characters any more after reading this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars FInal Justice 22 Jun 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
WIth plot holes on the scale of lunar craters and with sentence structure and punctuation which renders the text almost unreadable in places, this book (and its predecessor) is simply trite rubbish. THe 'heroine' makes me want to slap her, the plotline is ridiculously implausible, the characters are one dimensional...etc. I did read both books to the end, but only because i could not believe how bad they were. And what happened to Sasha?

3.0 out of 5 stars Preferred book 1 5 April 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Sorry Mel, just didn't like this one as much as the first one. I had no idea what to expect and the first one grabbed me by the throat with really frightening brutality. At times I couldn't believe what I was reading.
Final justice had for me a bit too much emphasis on how its a man's world and I began to lose empathy with Lorne who would bitch about the way men treat women then jump straight into bed with french guy on the first night, the woman is walking paradox.
