Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

In a nutshell:
Denied a release on the PlayStation 2, Square Enix’s first ever massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) comes to the Xbox 360 with all new graphics and all the expansion packs and extras from the PC version.

The lowdown:
Although this is part of the core, numbered, Final Fantasy series it is a fully fledged MMORPG that cannot be played offline or in single player mode (it also requires a hard drive to work). That said, it’s easily one of the most accessible and attractive MMORPGs around and the first proper one to be released on a home console. Once you’ve created and customised a character, the world of Vana 'Diel is yours to explore and adventure in as you like, with complete freedom to focus on exploration or monster hunting to increase your character’s skills. The controls and interface can be a bit fussy at times but the game is great at encouraging teamwork between players, and since this is a social experience above everything else that’s all important.

Most exciting moment:
Ganging together with the other members of your linkshell (an online clan of friends) to take on a giant monster you could never defeat alone.

Since you ask:
This is the first ever Square Enix game for an Xbox console, but the company has already promised to develop a second, as yet unspecified, title as well.

The bottom line:
The first ever online Final Fantasy has never looked or played better.
Harrison Dent

I LOVE THIS GAME 22 Jun 2007
Fun:
How can i start! this game is the best, i bought it when it first came out for the 360 just over a year ago as i write this, my son aslo got into it aswell so much he bought himself a 360 so we could play on it together and we are still playing now, no other games really get a look in anymore!

The joys of fighting battles against monsters and gods with real people from around the world is fantastic this game is a giant world with towns and cities that you can travel to across fantastic landscapes on foot or riding a chocobo(giant chicken)or boat or airship this world is huge.

there are so many jobs to choose from(once you get to lev 30 which shouldn't take more than a month) that you'll want to try them all to find your favourite(thats why i've been playing over a year and not quite got to lev 75 on 1 job(75 is the highest lev you can get to)).

if you enjoyed any final fantasy game you will love it

Long-Time Player 4 Mar 2008
Fun:
First off this game is EXTREMELY addictive if u give it the chance!!!

Next the installation time is very long, as it has to be copied from the disc to ur HDD, and then the game has been going for 6 years or so, there is that long worth of updates. These updates come around every couple of months and as u can guess there is a lot of them. SO the first day will be spent installing the game and the updates, be prepared for that! This as i said is a long time so at least 3 hrs will be spent doing this. Once done though, believe me its worth it.

Next graphics: They are pretty dated yes, but they are also, especially in the Aht Urhgan areas of the game, very beautiful. They lush landscape of certain areas are very detailed, with the colours and textures, as good as any game currently out there.

Control System: This can be annoying at times and will take some getting used to but when it has been embedded in your mind, it will be second nature. After tyhe last update before xmas there where extra room for the rest of the shortcuts, which has made the game a lot easire and also helps with preparation for switching jobs. With pastience and time, the controls can be mastered.

Leveling up: This is everyone who dislikes this games' 'main axe to grind'. The first 10 lvls will take a few hours. From 10-20 u can either solo(fight yourself) or head to the next area for your first taste of Group Partying. This area is very hit and miss and is also hated by the higher lvl players that seem to forget that they were once also new to the game, meaning there-fore they didnt know anything. Trying to find a group can and will for the most part take a few hours, unless you are either a Red MAge, Paladin, Ninja, and maybe a White Mage, at times. They are the only jobs that can consistantly be guarenteed a Party. The others are then there to make up the numbers. There are also a few DD classes that are sought after, but its mainly the 2 mage jobs that are needed.

This game will frustrate u then astound u when u least expect it. The storylines for all 3 Major Nations are long and hard, but none-the-less well written and exciting. There is also the stories for the expansion packs, the various subjob quests, the crafting, and many other things that can and will be done in the game.

Finally, this game takes a lot of dedication, and effort to play. The rewards when it has been mastered, i would assume are plenty, im only lvl62 myself, so i have a long way to go. Its a long haul, its not easy, but its really fun getting there. If u have a short attention sapn play WoW, for some instant gratification, otherwise this is the game for u.

Fun:
I'm sorry Starman but the XBOX 360 version does require you have unused registration codes. I found this out after buying a second hand version of the game. If you buy second hand do make sure the registration codes have not been used otherwise you'll be wasting money and time. My advice is buy the game brand new as it is a brilliant game. 10/10
