5.0 out of 5 stars Final Exam 29 Dec 2011
By FinlayB
Format:DVD
After looking at the reviews , I thought it wouldn't be any good but after watching it I loved it! It had good ,creepy music to go with the chase scenes and a lot of jumpy scenes. I thought it was well made and should be considered for any horror film fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Vintage Slasher 15 Oct 2011
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Final Exam, is very much from the Halloween influenced bloodless school of slashers. There is even less plot than usual. A motiveless fiend kills a couple in a car on lovers lane and then turns up to kill more youngsters on a college campus. I'm a sucker for early slashers so I found Final Exam very entertaining. But will admit that it has the odd flaw. Dammit, no I won't! I like this film. It's a 1981 low budget slasher film, not a serious art-house picture or even a serious horror film. So what if the killer is just some bloke with a poor haircut and the army would have wiped the entire campus out for a prank like that. Director Jimmy Huston went onto direct My Beat Friend is a Vampire and that isn't bad either. Anyway, I'm very pleased that because of Katrina's Nightmare Theater you can now buy it without remortgaging your liver. The cover art is great too.
Katrina's Nightmare Theater are also due to release
Humongous, in a cleaned up print with extras!!!
House on Sorority Row in an improved print with a new documentary
Night of the Demon, which will no longer be in Incredible VipcoVision.
And The Incubus.

"Final Exam" was made at the peak of the early 80's slasher period and i'm not surprised that this one been forgotten. The intro is truly typical stuff with a teen couple making out in a car only to be killed (but in a crap off screen murder). During the next 50 minutes! or so you'll be wondering if you're actually watching a slasher as nothing happens, that is apart from some ridiculous teen pranks, annoying characters and bland goings on. There's no suspense during this period and the killer is absent for what seems like an eternity before the deaths begin. From then on the deaths do come fairly thick and fast but sadly they are mostly lackluster murders with not much blood and little tension is created. The ending and the killers identity is also a let down and will probably leave you scratching your head, but you probably would have fallen asleep before then anyway. I'm a massive slasher fan but this one is disappointing.
