I bought the Fuji X10 camera just over a month ago and I've had great fun with the camera both at home and on 2 holidays - one in France, the other in Somerset and Cornwall. The X10 helps you take amazing photos and it's small form factor make it easy to carry round your neck and quickly grab, turn on and shoot when interesting subject matter presents itself.

One recommended accessory for the X10 is a lens hood, that helps prevent lens flare (picture defects that are caused by peripheral light getting into the camera). The Fuji original is expensive - too expensive for what it is - so I had a search around to see if there were cheaper compatible hoods. This model seemed to fit the bill but I originally decided not to buy it as it was shipping from China/Hong Kong and I had hoped to take it on holiday to France with me.

When I got back from France I had a few days before going to Somerset and I noticed that the lens hood was now being fulfilled by Amazon and was available for next day delivery. I ordered it, and a Tiffen UV protector, both of which were delivered the next day.

The hood works very well. I fitted it and the UV protector and took some test shots - all worked fine. I also tried fitting a polarising filter but found it very difficult to see the difference that turning the polarising ring made on the LED viewfinder so have opted not to use it again.

Other reviews have mentioned how both this and the Fuji lens hood prevent the accessory X10 leather case from closing when fitted. In practice this hasn't been a problem for me - I only have the full leather case fitted when the camera is not in use.

I purcahsed this item to see what it was like but unfortunaly the first one got lost in the post so i emailed the supplier they posted another item out with first class & registerd post i received this item today on 14/04/2012 which was very quick coming from HonkKong.

After looking at the adaptor & lenshood i cannont see any difference between this one and the orginal same colour same metal material and for the cost of £8.00 including postage you cannot go wrong.the Fujifilm lenshood & adaptor ring cost's £56.00 what a steel.

I would use this supplier of other camera parts that i need very quick to answer any emails you send which is excellen service provided by them.should be 10 Stars.

I wanted a lens hood for my X20. It is well made, fits well and does the job I wanted. It allows the use of 52mm filters. With or without a filter it provides good protection for the lens when the camera is around my neck. The hood can be seen in the view finder, but in my opinion this does not adversely impact on framing the image. At this price point a great hood.

Like Martin L, I assumed I'd been ripped off with this, as the original Fuji product comes in two parts, and this one doesn't. Well, the one I received does, it just takes some effort to separate to two sections, and there was no instruction to show this.

I presumed that 52mm filters would fit straight onto the front of this hood, and was puzzled to see that they didn't come close. After messing around some more, I realised that I could separate the hood from the filter adaptor, and thankfully am now able to use an old Kenko Pro-1 polariser and don't now have to chance an off-brand 40mm CPL.

I'd bought this mainly for the adaptor part, not the hood, so was relieved that it worked as hoped. I can add the hood part back on if needed, but then can't alter the CPL, so this is worth bearing in mind if you wish to use a CPL.

The hood looks a little like there's an additional internal thread, and I've seen people mention they use 58mm filters with this hood, but don't own any 58mm to confirm.

Hope this clears things up, this would have been a 5 star product if the seller provided instructions on how to separate the two sections!

I had read some reviews of the various Fuji X10 filter adaptor rings and was nearly put off purchasing one but this Cam Republic version seems to work fine.
I am using a 40mm UV filter on my Fuji X10. But this metal holder doubles as a lens hood, standard filter thread holder for UV and other filters and even takes a cheap clip on lens cap I bought in Dixons.

This adapter fulfils all the functions of the official version but is much better. I've used it on some outdoor shots at 28mm with no trace of vignetting even with a skylight and circular polariser fitted. Keep up the good work.

I dropped my camera and didn't want to pay another £60 for a lens hood. This alternative fits perfectly and apart from a different paint finish is nearly identical. Cam Republic delived it quickly free of postage. What more could I want?

Looks identical to the fujifilm lens hood and very good quality finish. I fitted a 40mm UV filter to the front of the lens and then fixed the lens hood onto the filter. Saves having to put a larger filter onto the lens hood which has holes in the side and so would let in dust. Effect filters could then be used on the hood while the front lens element is still protected. Not as bulky an arrangement as it might sound !
