4.0 out of 5 stars Great resource 6 April 2008
By fm newbie - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book can serve as a bible for using functions and script commands with it's thorough and easy to find listings.

It could only be better if more examples were provided for us newbies.

This is the one FM book that lives on my desk. I occasionally shelve it, only to end up pulling it out again a day later. I just hope they update it for version 10....

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing else like it for FileMaker developers 17 Mar. 2010
By Jerry Saperstein - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
FileMaker has just released version 11 of its venerable landmark relational database program.

Though focused on Version 9, this is still the best reference to FileMaker "Fucntions, Scripts, Commands and Grammars". It goes far beyond the FileMaker Help files and well beyond another classic, "FileMaker: The Missing Manual". The latter is intended for people learning to use FileMaker. "FileMaker 9 Developer Reference" is for the pro or person who wants to be a pro level FileMaker developer.

Not only is everything defined, but there are lots of examples as well.

Even though it is two versions behind, there is nothing else like it. A must-have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect if you already know the basics 19 Mar. 2009
By P. Beyrouty - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is exactly the kind of technical book I love. It doesn't give long chapters with confusing lessons. It just gives you a comprehensive guide of every function in Filemaker with an understandable explanation and helpful example. If you need something to check what a calculation or script step does this book is great. It won't tell you how to use Filemaker but it will help you make the most of it.
