This guide gave a good overview of Fijian culture and historic background however I found that the opinion of various islands to visit (of which there are a fair few!) was completely subjective. That Beachcomber has "lost a lot of the shine from it's disco ball" may be seen to deter guests however your enjoyment of Beachcomber depends on who you're with and how much you enjoy discos on a sandy dancefloor. All of the islands were more expensive than quoted in this book and it didn't give a very good idea of what to expect at all in the Yusawas. It sounds like they are beachy oasis with diving and snorkelling to be had on a daily basis however my time on Waya was not as read. The Yusawa flyer makes you book hostels in advance of which there are obvious monopolies and so you end up with poor food and accomodation for a price, the three days or so you pay for on each island end up being one evening, one full day and one morning. A very money hungry enterprise and very little enjoyment was had by everyone I encountered bar honeymooning couples, which is what these places are good for, however the guide does not make this very obvious! It seems like it is advertising the country and locations without being particularly accurate, just take a look at it all online and print off some pages before you go, it will paint much more accurate a picture.
