We bought this for our 2 1/2 year old who is crazy about Thomas. The Thomas wooden track sets are really expensive, but this is compatible with the Thomas wooden engines (as well as coming with everything you need to start out), so we bought the track and have bought the wooden Thomas trains individually over time. You can also use these track sets to expand on your existing wooden Thomas tracks or vice versa (at least thats what the salesman told me when we bought it), but we haven't needed to expand as yet. Our toddler loves this train set and it offers a lot of play value for the money.

I bought this as a birthday present for my nephew, he loves it! He had the beginner brio train set and I bought this so he had lots more track to put together. I think it is really good that the bigjigs train sets and accessories are compatible with the brio train sets.

We bought this train set for our son, who has not turned 2 yet. He loves it and plays with it almost every day.
He's not so keen on the little houses and trees that come with it, but has lots of fun building the track and playing with the train.
It's a great starter set and we're very happy with our purchase.
