I bought this for one purpose, which was to watch the fight scenes. The posters and trailers were promising: Young, fit, strong, not-bad-looking guy (Channing Tatum) on the front cover, who looks like he can fight, what's not to like?
Terrance Howard was great, and so was that old grandmother, but that is about it.
The fight choreography had potential but the camera work made little of what could have been quite good, especially in the middle fight against the Dragon Le (Cung Le). However, much of the technical aspects have been left out, and we're left with a flurry of shaky screens which was presumably exciting to some people.
The film is overly long drawn out and the soppy romance sequences gave me the time to type my opinions of this film on its Facebook page.
Not as bad as "Beyond The Ring", followed by "Never Back Down", which is really a modern spin on "Gladiator" (1992, Cuba Gooding Jr), which I think is a MUCH better film by far.
