I bought the EP and am now a fan. What more can i say? The songs on this EP i gather are a mixture of Yoshimi songs and others. This EP really cheers me up when i listen to it because it contains some really funny songs.
Kylie Minogue's 'Can't get you off my head' sung by Wayne Coyne is and experience i shall not be forgetting in a hurry! While 'Thankyou Jack White' is just an instant campfire classic that demands to be listen and laughed to.
If you're looking for some happy music, here it is.

A great E.P ! 31 Oct 2009
Format:Audio CD
As a huge Radiohead and Flaming Lips fan I bought this EP for the Knives Out cover. The CD includes bonus mutimedia (a video for Fight Test and a trailer for the Christmas on Mars movie). Sadly I can't find a computer which can access these and to make things worse I can't find a stereo which will play the CD! The only way I've been able to listen to the CD is through the computer - this may be a dodgy disc but I've not encountered this before. After the brilliant Fight Test comes the classic Kylie cover which the band manage to make their own. Tongue in cheek it may be but it is nevertheless a stunning arrangement with Waynes's fragile voice shining out from behind a thick cloud of synthesiser. Next comes a cover of Beck's "The Golden Age" which is nothing special and a rather strange choice for a cover. The reason for my purchase does not disappoint as the band deliver a brilliant "Knives Out", not so different from the original although slightly longer. "Do you Realize" is given a dance remix and for me is the stand out track on the E.P. The final two tracks are new Lips tracks. " The Strange Design of Conscience" is a great tune and would not have sounded out of place on the album. The final track "Thank You Jack White" is a Cash-esque tune in which Wayne expresses his gratitude to Jack White for his gift of a fiber optic Jesus statue. Exactly. Aside from the Beck cover it's a great set of songs. Now I'm off to Brainville....

OK, so the album was released a year ago. OK "The Golden Age" adds little to the standout track on Beck's most recent album. OK "Fight Test" is the weakest of the three singles.

But that doesn't mean one should ignore this release. The cover of Kylie's "Can't Get You Out of My Head" is epic: a dramatic, quasi-orchestral radical reworking and not in the slightest bit Karaoke-esque.

The remix of "Do You Realize?" is slightly disappointing. I had expected something akin to the Boo Radleys' "Music for Astronauts" extended version of "Wake Up Boo" from the mid 1990s. However, in this case the remix's primary achievement is to make one yearn to hear the original of one of the greatest songs in recent years.

The two new originals are both worthy additions to the Lips' canon. "The Strange Design of Conscience" features the uniquely poetic lyrics and inflections which Wayne Coyne does better than anyone else in music. Look at the band's website for proof of his inspirational eloquence in describing his music. "Thank You Jack White (For the Fiber Optic Jesus That You Gave Me)" is a touching tribute to some guitarist/singer from Detroit who apparently is making all the right noises now.

So, as with all Lips' singles, the message is: buy "The Soft Bulletin" "Yoshimi" and especially the wondrous "Zaireeka" albums in preference. If you have any spare change and have a taste for this great group, feel free to shell out.
