Product Description

While The Professional marked the American breakthrough of populist French director Luc Besson (and his long-time composer, Eric Serra), the ambitious, futuristic sci-fi adventure The Fifth Element proved to be Besson's stateside sophomore jinx at the box office. Still, Serra's score shouldn't be overlooked. Easily the composer's most digitally daring studio concoction, The Fifth Element offers up a brave stew of synth beats, orchestral flourishes, and ethnic influences ranging from Middle Eastern modalities to Italian operatic arias. --Jerry McCulley

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic film - excellent music 1 May 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I really enjoyed this film, but it wasn't until I bought the CD that I realised how good the music was or how well it went together with the movie action.
There are some brilliant tracks and the sound quality/atmospherics also make it a very rewarding experience too. On the strength of this, I went to look for the original music for the Diva Dance section of the film. However, after listening to the "classical" version, I realised that I'd only enjoyed it becuase of Eric Serra's arrangement & performance on the 5th Element film & CD.
As ever, some of the "connecting" music makes sense when watching the film, but you may want to skip it whilst just litening. It doesn't detract from the overall enjoyment though.
And if you haven't seen the film, don't forget that too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Last Call For Fhloston Paradise... 30 Jan 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
A crazy, wild soundtrack album from the very cool movie from french director Luc Besson(Leon, The Big Blue). Eric Serra's score has practically everything, orchastrial pieces, strong electronic melodies and a funny rap track from Chris Tucker. Each track has something different to offer no matter what tastes in music you have. The only dissappointing thing is that the cab chase song 'Alech Taadi' has been ommitted, but not to worry everything else is here plus a bonus track not featured in the movie. Overall, a great soundtrack that is seriously worth a listen. So sit back, relax and prepare yourself to go on a wild and totally out-of-this-world adventure!
On a personal note:- If you are seriously considering on buying this go for the european version as it has a multimedia track compatible with PC's which features pictures, interviews and access to the official web-site.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unusual, but a must have soundtrack 6 Dec 2005
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Like many I went in search of recordings made by Inva Mula-Tchako, only to find that the best versions are actually on the soundtrack CD. The CD can stand alone without knowledge of the film, but knowing both enhances the music.
