I feel I can't praise enough this wonderful film based on a novel by Catherine Cookson (which I have not read). The setting in the poor, bleak working-class neighbourhood of Fifteen Streets, in turn-of-the-century Newcastle, is wonderfully good, but especially, the acting is superb (do they all really speak that way?). The conflicts that these characters live through in the story change them forever, and you actually can see this in the expression on their faces, from hopeful to hopeless, and in the inflection of their voices. This is really ACTING at its best. After watching the film we are left with a feeling of respect for these hard workers and their families, who get over misery and bad times thanks to their sense of dignity and (in the case of the main character -who is NOT Sean Bean-) love. Not to miss, even if you are not a romance buff (which I am not).

This is one of those films, which you just want to tell the world about, I love the actors the story line everything!! every girl loves a romance, but it appeals to men to with the violence, and plot. What a will say is why it's not one of her most famous novels,I'll never know, but to be honest, she'd written a few so they can't all go down a storm. Sean Bean is the only name you'll know, and believe me he plays a truly memorable character! but the Cast are all wonderful actors, it period dramas at it's best!! Liverpool makes for a lovely location. And how often do you hear that said!! Well product info, Well its on DVD in a Daily Mirror Case,unfortunately it doesn't come with tissues and popcorn!

I THINK THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST OF CATERINE COOKSON'S STORY'S. OWEN TEAL IS GREAT AS JOHN HE BRINGS THE CHARACTER TO LIFE. YOU CARE ABOUT THEM YOU GET ANGRY AT THEM AND YOU LOVE THEM.

Fifteen streets of magic
I first saw this film when in the forces and I found it outstanding. Unlike many of the modern films which tend to go far away from the literature this film does not....outstanding

This is one of the worst Catherine Cookson films I have ever seen. The story is based on a lot of shouting and fighting with no particular storyline. Read more

The 15 Streets.
I am not a Catherine Cookson lover but I do like Sean Bean. Originally Owen Teale headlined the cast but then Sean Bean became more famous so he was put as the lead actor. Read more
