Amazon.co.uk Review

In an attempt to catch lightning in a bottle, John Cleese wrote Fierce Creatures with the purpose of reuniting the comedic cast of A Fish Called Wanda. Media mogul (Kevin Kline) owns a London zoo. He demands that the park raise more profit, so the new zoo director (Cleese) orders that only dangerous animals be displayed in order to maximize ticket sales. In a dual role, Kline also plays the mogul's son, who plans to run the zoo with the help of displaced employees (including Michael Palin) and zoo programmer Willa Weston (Jamie Lee Curtis). The situation lends itself to comedic confusion and split-second timing, and for a few good laughs the film is a pretty safe bet. It's not as hilarious as A Fish Called Wanda (that's a pretty tall order), but Cleese knows comedy, and his efforts are worth a look. --Jeff Shannon, Amazon.com

3.0 out of 5 stars Same Cast as A Fish Called Wanda but Totally Different Film, 23 Dec 2007
By Jay "The Amazon Reviewer" (Mauritius) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
"Fierce Creatures" was marketed as a somewhat adventurous endeavour in teaming up much of the old team from the highly acclaimed "A Fish called Wanda" to do another film that was completely different and had nothing the same, except much of the cast.

Does this have the same sparkle? The short answer is no, but it is still good viewing. It tells the story of a highly greedy and successful business magnate, Rod McCain (Kevin Kline) who has just taken over a zoo in England. However, business regulations require that the zoo return 20% of revenue or it will be shut down. Put in charge is Rollo Lee (John Cleese), who is then somewhat overthrown by new recruit Willa Weston (Jamie Lee Curtis) and McCain's 'idiot' son Vince (also Kline). Essentially the film deals with the three of the new directors and their different schemes for making money and raising the revenue to 20%, but with plenty of sexual tension and comedies of error along the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars STAR FILLED FUN!, 6 Nov 2001
By A Customer
Popular actors and actresses have gathered together to create a fantastic film masterpiece. It includes stars such as John Cleese, Micheal Palin, Ronnie Corbet and Jamie Lee Curtis just to name just a few. They have joined forces and let loose a huge burst of Comedy.
Multi Billionaire Rod Mcainne has aquired Zoo whilst out taking over other businesses and who gets to run this waste of a Zoo? Of course it can only be John Cleese. His aim is to make the zoo make more money, and the only way he can do this is by showing to the public not cute fury animals, only FIERCE CREATURES! A must to anyone who enjoys the laughing stock of ultimats comedy!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars MORE PLEASE!!!!, 25 Feb 2005

(REAL NAME)
This film was always going to be under the shadow of a fish called wanda, and many have written it off as a shabby sequel.

BUT

If you take the time to actually watch it you will see it is full of funny moments from

the vampire cleese to palins non stop talking keeper to cleeses 5 animal bedroom scene

deserves another sequel
