Excellent book 18 Aug 2010
Format:Hardcover
I found this book superb. I reviewed it for my site wildmushroomsonline .co .uk and as someone who owns lots of books on wild mushrooms, this one rates as one of the best. I agree it does not hold everything but it does hold most of the more commonly found fungi and very well laid out

I got this book when I started getting interested in mushrooms. My first reaction was a total disappointment - I expected to be able to recognize at least half of the mushrooms in the forest, but barely managed to recognize 1 in 20.

After spending more time in the forest I realise that in a book this size it's impossible to have enough species. I got a book specific for Ireland, where I'm from, and even with this book it's difficult to recognize many species.

This book is a nice intro to the subject, but will not make you an expert.

In my original review I gave it one star. I think it deserves 2.5
