`Fidel: The Untold Story' is an exceptional documentary looking at the life and times of Fidel Castro. Featuring interviews with Castro, as well as archival footage and interviews with influential people who have been influenced by his life, this film explores the life of Castro, as well as the Cuban revolution. From pre revolutionary days, through the Batista regime, The Bay of Pigs, to the special period and Elian incident, Castro's resolve to protect and enhance the lives of Cuban people has been ongoing and it is fascinating to learn more about. This documentary shows how revered he is by some people and how demonised he is by others and to see him joking with Mandela or greeting jubilant fans in Harlem is inspiring stuff. Without excessive hyperbole or drama this documentary shows a side of Castro not seen by western audiences who are fed constant anti-Castro propaganda and if you're interested in Cuba and Cuban history then this makes for required viewing. I'd also recommend Oliver Stones Castro interview DVD `Comandante'.
