This is a colourful, good quality book suitable for the complete beginner. It contains a range of well known and original tunes in a variety of styles. The music is clearly printed with amusing cartoons throughout, making it very attractive to pupils . . . The bright and joyful colourful cover is an immediate incentive to even the most jaded young person to open this book and discover its musical delights. Kathy and David Blackwell continue their Fiddle Time series with this collection of carefully paced tunes. By the end of the forty- seven short pieces all fingers have been learned together with different rhythms, dynamics, slurs and keys. There are also tuning tracks and an extra fun piece, 'Joggers Medley.' Fiddle Time Joggers is a first book of very easy pieces for violin with open string pieces and tunes using the finger pattern 0-1-23-4. There are well-known tunes and original pieces from rock to calypso using simple slurs and a few dynamics. Notice-boards introduce new notes and rhythms and there are easy duets to play. The book comes with CD, providing performances of all the pieces with accompaniments using piano and other instruments. A separate book of straightforward piano accompaniments is available.

Our hearts sank when our daughter decided to take up the violin.. all that screechy noise, we thought... but this book, recommended by her teacher, has been fantastic. Right from the very first lesson, she was able, with the help of the CD, to play music that is actually pleasant to listen to. There is a good range of pieces with clear explanations of new and unfamiliar techniques. If you are considering buying this book with CD for the budding violinist in the family, I can't imagine there is a better choice out there- enjoy it!

I'm an adult who has just begun to learn the violin and I could not read music to any extent. This first book in the series is excellent and teaches violin step by step, the accompanying CD is such a helpful aid. My violin teacher recommended it and I can see why. It gets you playing tunes straight away and I have already purchased the next book in the series I was so impressed. One of the best learning aids I've come across.

My 8 year daughter started playing in Sept 09. I bought this book Fiddle Time Joggers + CDfor her the other week and what a difference. She opened up the book, and within half an hour had mastered 4 out of the first 7 tunes. The CD is a real aid, I can't praise it enough. Going to purchase the next in the series

its ok
i bought this book for my neice and i was a bit dissapointed with its pictures and how much pages there were. But its ok and easy to follow. It gives you a good cd rom.

Fiddletastic!
Ordered for my 8 year old daughter. She instantly picked up the tunes and was able to play along with the CD quite tunefully. A blessing to a tired mum's ears!
