Product Description

Greg was comfortably moving into the next stage of his life. He would finish grad school, take a university teaching position, and snuggle into academia. He and his wife, Lana, would be happy. That was the plan. Yet while enjoying a cave dive, Greg came across a canister buried in the silt. Within it he discovers an ancient artifact, a scroll containing extraordinary revelations. A discovery that would alter their lives forever. Suddenly they find that their lives are in danger. Seeking safety and answers on a trail that takes them from Florida to Chicago to Wyoming, they find Tom, a Teacher, a link in an ancient chain of knowledge. Tom and Greg must go to New York City to protect the artifact and end the pursuit by those who wish them harm. Along the way, Tom reveals the Teachings of the scroll, the Great Work, the transformation of human consciousness. They encounter bears, bikers, muggers and pot dealers as Tom expresses the ideas of eastern philosophy, martial arts, dimensionality and psychology to explain the Teachings. Greg and Lana gradually discover that everything they thought they understood about themselves and the world around them was a fiction. The plan changed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great teachings in an enjoyable romp... 17 Aug 2012

As a long time student of Gurdjieff's fourth way I always keen to read any new book on this topic. This book is a radical departure from the norm! A vibrant "Da Vinci Code", like romp with action, mystery and suspense.

You also get the benefits of deep and compelling wisdom and a powerful guide to the teachings of Gurdjieff and other masters of wisdom. Well worth a read!

5.0 out of 5 stars When "Fiction" is "Truth" ? 30 Mar 2013
By Anthony Pucci - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Or vice versa? You be the judge. What a tale that is woven in this deep, thought-provoking book! Once you get started, it is one of those books that is hard to put down. If you have any notion about spiritual Work, then, this book is a must for you. It will challenge your notions about a great many things; and, more importantly, it will make you think. Think about your life and what makes you tick - what is really important? What is real and what is illusion? You do the Work - this book can get you going on your journey. The story is a real thriller but the introductions to the chapters are even more important, in my opinion. A book that needs some serious re-reading and note-taking by those who get into what is actually being said. Folks, this book is written by a brilliant, spiritual man. Don't let it pass you by!

5.0 out of 5 stars All the world's a stage... 9 Sep 2012
By SB - Published on
Fiction is a creative, humorous, & contemporary story...or is it? It draws you in, it makes you think & you keep reading. There is an important idea expressed in each chapter foreshadowed by the quote at the chapter's opening. Each quote is inextricably connected to the others, just as the storyline is connected by the plight of its characters. The story moves back and forth in time, the characters play their parts, but the reader is always reminded about & drawn to a singular underlying reality. This work of "fiction" cleverly and compassionately inspires even more than it entertains.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truth and Fiction 6 Sep 2012

Yes, the title is "Fiction" and the story is fictional, but the underlying ideas expressed throughout the book, particularly in the opening quotes for each chapter, provide a foundation for a more meaningful understanding of our lives. The storyline is a fresh and entertaining vehicle to express those ideas. I recommend "Fiction" to anyone searching for more than their own fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! 23 April 2014
By Barbara Peschl - Published on

How do I write a review of a book that is one of the most incredible insights into human insight, failings, sleepwalking and beliefs that is a work of 'fiction' and is yet one of the most profoundly truthful books I've ever read...and I read A LOT! I personally need to read more from this author or at the very least know that he intends to continue writing on this subject! Treat yourself, your faith (in whatever sense that might define what you believe in) by reading this book and then give it to friends, loved ones and anyone else you care about who "suffers" (which is everyone)! This is a book that I have marked, highlighted and have already purchased reference material that is quoted from. My reading will continue, my search has just begun and what a journey it is proving to be! Haven't been this excited by a work of 'fiction' in a very long time. Well done Mr. Finando. Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truth in "Fiction" 2 Sep 2012
By mark g. - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The title of this book may be "Fiction" but the reality leans heavily towards the "Truth". The characters are fun and the story line will draw your attention, but like many stories of this nature it will soon be forgotten. What stays with you and attaches itself to your thinking is the profoundness of the "Teachings" found throughout this book. Finando leaves the reader with a great deal to ponder and perhaps the beginning of a meaningful journey.
