Book Description

Imagine living in a pain beyond description, unable to do the simplest tasks that you have been doing your entire life, unable to sleep, and dealing with sensory overload (every noise is to loud, light to bright and smell to strong). All this with people telling you that you’re fine, it’s all in your head, just suck it up and move on. Imagine how you would cope with the pain and other symptoms with no support from friends, family or the medical community. How would you move forward? How would you live your life each day?

This is what many diagnosed with Fibromyalgia experience every day. Fibromyalgia takes a toll physically, emotionally and relationally. Millions of people have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia; these Fibromyalgians must navigate the pain and myriad of other symptoms often with little support. No Fibromyalgian should feel like they are in this alone, there are millions of us and we can provide each other with support, encouragement and advice. Through each other and with the help of Christ, we can all make our way through the dark tunnel of pain into a new life of blessing and hope.

Within these pages you will find:
- Basic information and details about Fibromyalgia
- Recent research and advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of Fibromyalgia
- Stories (mine and others) of those who have navigated the journey and found a life of blessing and hope after the diagnosis
- Action steps (treatment options) to take to create a new life plan that will lead you to a life of blessing and hope
- Tips on what fellow Fibromyalgians have found useful in their journey
- Links to educational and support resources

If you have Fibromyalgia, you are not alone. Others share your experiences and there are many places to find support and encouragement. Many have found a different but better life on the other side of the diagnosis.

If you are the family or friend of a Fibromyalgian, this is an opportunity to understand what they are experiencing and how you can support them and provide encouragement.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13

More About the Author

I have been an avid reader since I was a young child - happily sacrificing TV and playtime in order to read a good book. I have been capturing observations, feelings and events in poems and stories since middle school. As I have grown older, I continued to write and create stories to entertain family and friends and to help celebrate life's special moments.

For many years I suffered from symptoms that went undiagnosed. After years of suffering and searching for answers, I was finally diagnosed several years ago with Fibromyalgia and some other underlying conditions. With a well-rounded, holistic treatment plan I am feeling better and living a more active and joyous life.

I am passionate about education in all formats. Since 1999 my professional career has focused on the design and development of training for employees across industries and educational formats. I have specialized in analyzing the need for training and assessing the best method for training and delivery (classroom, live virtual training, blended, web-based training, etc). My writing skills assisted me in delivering solutions that engaged learners and translated to application on the job.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Organizational Development and Human Resource development as well as my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

I live in Kansas with my husband, teenage son and our two gorgeous, ornery and energetic Scottie pups (Conner and Zoe). In my spare time I enjoy photography, spending time with family and friends, and traveling around the world with family.

I am always excited to hear from readers. Please visit my website ( and join me on Facebook ( I look forward to hearing from you!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother with this. 15 Mar. 2014

total American twaddle, mountains to climb, pain barriers etc. Like everything else American, its got be better or worse than everyone else. I am a UK sufferer of Fibro, it is a painful illness not yet recognised by some professionals. if a sufferer don't bother with this little bit of waffle informs of nothing you don't already know, if anything will depress you more than help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for all who have a chronic illness or are friends and family 24 Jun. 2013

Shannon shared some of the long journey that we who have fibromyalgia have experienced. She also shows the hope that Christ gives to each of His children throughout this life. This book would have benefited me greatly even before I was first diagnosed, and for that reason I would recommend it to anyone who has any kind for chronic illness, but especially for those who suffer from fibromyalgia. To those of us who have had this malady for years, it validates so much of what we've experienced. For the newbies, it shows the long trek that many must take before there is any relief in site. But throughout it all, beginning to end, Jesus is there to offer solace and comfort and healing. For the friends and families it is a must read. People with this illness have good days, bad days, ups and downs, akin to a rollercoaster ride. It is not "in their heads", they aren't "lazy", nor are they "selfish". It is what it is. Thank you Shannon Sonneveldt, for sharing your journey.

I downloaded this book out of support for a fellow poet. Little did I know how appropriate it would be to my life. This book is packed with info and resources, aha moments, and tears. The part about grieving your past life is so spot on. My review would be longer, but it hurts to type. Just read this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed! 21 May 2014

I too live with Fibromyalgia and had reached a point where I was very angry. This was so enlightening and encouraged me to look at the blessings instead feeding the negativity. She offers suggestions to help make a realistic plan. Some I was already doing but others hadn't crossed my mind. This book even helped me understand some of the things I deal with every day. She provides resources for learning more and connecting with others. Every person living with Fibromyalgia should read this! So should those that want to understand what your loved one is feeling and needs!

I have had fibro for several years and have not done much research on this unusual diagnosis. This book gave me tons of websites and research to check out. There are so many people out there with the poor me attitude who have fibro. I have made the decision since my diagnosis to live as gracefully as possible. This book was a nice change to most peoples attitudes.

Thank you for caring enough about others to write this book. This book offers a positive outlook for hurting people in a negative world. The websites and information are a gift to me and others who deal daily with fibromyalgia. God is good all the time!
