Stunning!! 4 Aug. 2010
By S. L. Smith - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover-spiral
If you can get your hands on this book - it's worth any price!! I managed to buy a copy at my local craft chain store. ALL of Judith Baker Montano's books are amazing, but her "Fibre Art Montage" rises above the rest.

Ms Montano shows how she uses computer software to further develop her montage designs, but I can see where the crafty person with a simple ability to draw could achieve fabulous results without a computer. And if you are an art quilter, or just an aspiring one, you will quickly learn how you can incorporate your own images into your projects.

Topics in this book include crazy quilting basics using a clever 5-sided starting centerpiece, photography tips, painting cloth with watercolors, dye-ing your own silk, and many ideas for layering fabrics, threads, and mesh, resulting in one-of-a-kind collages. THis is so appealing because even if you tried, you simply could not exactly duplicate any one finished piece.

The projects that really speak to me are the "Seascape Brooches" toward the end of the book. Here you get to take everything you learned earlier, simplify it, and miniaturize it into a simply stellar piece of fine art. Just magnificent.

If you have trouble finding a copy of this book, keep hunting - it is well worth the effort if you love needle crafts, photography, embellishments, and quilting.

so Inspirational 11 April 2010
By Quilt Diva - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover-spiral
I bought this book from THE quilt shop while travelling on a vacation in Sisters, OR. What a delight! I spent hours reading and rereading about the beautiful techniques the author has shown. I couldn't take my eyes off it even with the splendid beauty outside the car. Couldn't wait to get home and try a few ideas. This book, in addition to being a wonderful technique resource, is just a delight for the eyes.

Quite a Departure from Her Other Works! 27 April 2010
By Melanie Hollenshead - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover-spiral Verified Purchase
Judith Baker Montano's newest book is quite a departure from her other works. It is still filled with beautiful works. However it goes into more detail on constructing a piece with various fiber art techniques. This is a must-have book for intermediate to advanced crafters / artists that are ready to break away from traditional crazy quilting and add new skills.
