If you want to be seen when using your bike - this is a really good product. I bought two sets of light for our bikes and we now feel really safe when cycling home from the pub at night. They expensive - if you want the best, you need to pay for it.

HASH(0x8e6ffee8) out of 5 stars Brilliant Idea, Lacks in Execution 26 Mar. 2012
By Action Lad - Published on
I am a commuter in hot and cold, fair and rainy weather, so I need a durable, weather-proof product. The Fibre Flare is a super looking design, which fits the style of my set-up perfectly. Three things are left to be desired:

First, the wires contained in the color strip that connect the two ends are the hair-thin sort which snap easily. It's amazing that the company advertises that you can bend the lamp. Actually, you must be careful how you handle it, because:

Secondly, the fiber optic bar is not glued to the ends which house the batteries. Separating the housing from the tube stresses these fibrous leads. Its looseness also allows water in, when mounted vertically. After a rain, you must remove the lamp from the bike, open the housing, remove the battery, and allow the inside to dry, or the components inside will rust and decrease the life of the lamp. Repairing the thin leads, and cleaning the rust from the inside produce unsatisfactory results.

Thirdly, it is amazing that for this level of build quality they charge so much.

In conclusion, if you can afford it, and ride only when it's dry, and you can handle it carefully, you will have a great looking lamp.
Fibreflare recently wrote to me to inform me that since a year ago, their lights now have wire similar to headphone wire, and it should not break, like their previous gen. of headphones. Also, it is said to be more watertight.
HASH(0x8eb8e18c) out of 5 stars increases side visibility 4 July 2011
By M. Hummel - Published on
I put these on the seatstay of my bike for my early morning commute to work. I had lights on the front and back of my bike but my side visibility was lacking. This fixed that. I've even had comments from motorists about conspicuous they are.
The straps are high quality, but the interface between the tubing and the caps seems week. However, I've used them five days a week for two winters and they are still holding up.
