It's basic and a good book to start,
By Lizzy "(º,º)" (London) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fiberglass Repair and Construction Handbook (Paperback)
Although the plastic world is evolving everyday with new plastics coming on the market everyday the book sticks to basics which makes it in a way time independent. You will however not build a car, a boat or a bathtub with this book. The book handles only about the characteristics of fiberglass, how to handle it, lay it up, how to repair it but stays very superficial on the varieties of objects made from it. It explains quiet well the difference between epoxy resins and polyester resins and when and how to use them. In the exercises there is a lot of repetition however and the book could do with some more explanatory drawings and photographs. For the novice fiberglasser it's an OK book to start with.

Annoying,
By Mark Pikas - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Fiberglass Repair and Construction Handbook (Paperback)
This will be short:Have you ever seen one of those books that looks like it will have a lot of good info on how to do something, open the cover and realize that it's just a "this is nice stuff that you could do if you knew how, but I'm not going to tell you the details of how..." book? This is that book. To add to that, it's outdated, and even though all the products introduced and shown were of one brand, they didn't even take a picture of them but instead someone drew a picture of the can sitting there... 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful:

Unreadable,
By W. J. Wheaton - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Fiberglass Repair and Construction Handbook (Paperback)
This book is nothing more than a series of unaddressed topics. They talk about many possible fiberglass repair situations but never quite get around to telling you how to fix them. Confusing photos. I know as much now as before I got this book. Ask a pint dealer or some old guy at Home Depot, you'll get better information.

Must be imaginative...,
By SAUL ZEIGEN MUGR - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Fiberglass Repair and Construction Handbook (Paperback)
I agree that this book has serious problems with pictures and photos, because the drawings included are very poor so you cannot identify the difference between the different materials. But in my particular case, people in fiberglass materials stores understood what I was looking for (by the materials and fluids names) and at that moment theory and reality matched perfectly. The amateur results that I was expecting (car speakers, small boxes) were achieved completely. |
