Product Description

West Africa and the Sahara Desert – where the Muslim north meets the Christian south. Where drought, famine and poverty meet drug-runners, terrorists and Muslim extremists.

Captain John Fisker, a US military officer working to strengthen the forces of moderate Islam in the region, is kidnapped by terrorists. At the same time extremists are threatening the Christian mission hospital where John’s brother Bobby works as a doctor.

It is time to call for the New Mercedarians, the clandestine military order dedicated to fighting for Christians under attack around the world. Operatives Brother Half Angel and Brother Luiz fly urgently to West Africa.

Add to the mix a Korean holy man who communes with God at the summit of a sacred mountain, a crazed Russian drugs courier, a young American studying to be a Sufi mystic and a CIA officer on the run from his own superiors, and you have the exciting new book in Martin Roth’s acclaimed Military Orders series.

Praise for Martin Roth’s thriller “Prophets and Loss”:

“A thrilling ride that begins as a story of murder and revenge and ends as a reflection on loss and forgiveness....Fast-paced and edgy.” - SydneyAnglicans.net

“Wow!.…When “Prophets and Loss” arrived…I certainly wasn’t expecting a meaty murder mystery cum terrorist plot. And when I realized that’s what it was, I certainly wasn’t then expecting Roth’s Johnny Ravine mystery to deliver such a fabulous gospel message….This is a great book for a Christian or as a starter for a non-Christian. A fabulous surprise.” - The Presbyterian Pulse

Praise for Martin Roth’s thriller “Hot Rock Dreaming” (Australian Christian Book of the Year finalist):

“Roth is a Christian author and, although spiritual warfare is crucial to the plot, this book is still a murder mystery…Thought-provoking and an enjoyable read.” – On Fire

“Highly readable…You will be both entertained and educated.” – Journey

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Fast Paced Action Adventure 17 Sep 2012
By Larry B. Gray - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
"Festival in the Desert" is Book 4 in the "Military Orders" series by Martin Roth. Each of his books is a great read but this book is the best of the series. It is full of fast paced action and adventure. It kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire book.

The storyline is well developed and easy to follow. Each aspect of the story is clearly defined and ties into the overall storyline, bringing the reader a great adventure. What made the story even more real was how it tied in with the headlines of today. The author captured this moment in history and applied it to his novel in a way that is totally relevant.

The character are easy to identify with and very believable. It was easy to put myself into the story as an "extra" in each scene and follow along with the plot. The plot moved at a good pace and never dragged. I really enjoyed the book.

I highly recommend "Festival in the Desert" by Martin Roth for all ages.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a Bad Book 18 July 2012

This is the first book in the series that I have read and I did not feel lost. However, the book was action packed and then ended with a neat little bow in about 2 pages so the ending was a bit disappointing.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love this series 13 Mar 2013

I learned alot in these series about Korea and I love the heros in this book. I want more, please. More of God and more of Brother Half Angel. He is a man of honor, yet a tad stubborn, I can relate. The way Christians are being singled out more and more in this world of ours is becoming very scary. But, we all Love Jesus and won't give Him up for anything. As you read how bad it is for Christians, it opens up your heart to relize, we are not far from the end and we do need to have our warriors back in action. Anyway, excellent read, learned alot.
