I picked up "Festering Lillies" because I enjoy Natasha Cooper's other books with Trish Maquire and was interested to see her other "character". If, like me, you enjoyed the Maquire books this is similiar in having a feisty, opinionated but human heroine who thinks she's self sufficient (but isn't). It is written with the same light, humourous tone which looks at the frailities of others with compassion but also a touch of cynicism and wit. I enjoyed the style, and liked the fact that as a whodunnit it avoided the more "brutal" aspects of most detective novels - the post mortem, detailed descriptions of violence etc. The "detection" is less important than character and storyline. I enjoyed it and it made me smile - I'll certainly look for others in the series to see how it develops.
