Product Description

Product Description

Approximately GBP500m per year is spent in the UK on assisted conception techniques such as IVF by couples who do not know that their diet could be affecting their fertility. Men and women who are stigmatised as 'infertile' or told they are too old to have a baby feel betrayed by their own bodies yet, according to Sarah Dobbyn, biological age and chronological age do not have to coincide. If your body believes you are young and healthy enough to have a baby, no matter how old you are, you will be able to conceive a child - and easily. Not only this, but a healthy diet that eschews 'contraceptive foods' can enhance libido and delay the onset of the menopause. With chapters on fertility power foods, supplements and drinks, enhancing male fertility and avoiding miscarriage, The Fertility Diet will tell readers everything they need to know about staying as young, fertile and sexually charged for as long as possible. With delicious recipes and a Fertility Action Plan at the end of each chapter, the book sets out suggestions for immediate steps you can take today to maximise your chances of conceiving the old-fashioned way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Reference Book for Healthy Living and Fertility, 10 Jun 2008
By S. Mcdow - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a great book for anyone wanting more information on how to increase their fertility. Most of the other books and websites I have seen on this topic repeat the same limited information. This book includes alot of new material and tips that I have never read about or seen before and its all collated and summarised in a very easy to read format.

I really liked the anti ageing and general wellness tips also. This book is a good reference generally for women (and men) on how to live and eat to increase their general health. Sarah's sense of humour and writing style is very easy to read but it backed up by lots of scientific research so it comes across as extremely well researched and credible material.

I highly recommend this book to all women thinking about fertility and especially to women over 30, even those not thinking about having a baby right now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical tips based on scientific research, 10 May 2008
By T. Schumacher "Booklein" (West Sussex, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this book and got something I did not expect: a book that can change your perception on the things I do on a daily basis without realising their effect on my fertility.

I generally lead a healthy life with a balanced diet (or so I thought), but this book opened my eyes - some things that I thought were bad (e.g. chocolate, moderately consumed) can be good and others that I thought were good (e.g. soya milk and other soya products) are quite obviously unhealthy.

The book is well researched (in fact impressively scientific in its approach)and the author writes with refreshing honesty. Each chapter has a helpful bullet point list with easy ways to implement those things that the chapter dealt with.

I can't recommend this book enough for anyone wishing to improve their fertility or learn about fertility related issues (see for example the chapter on aphrodisiac foods...).

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid, comprehensive advice ... that works!, 25 Feb 2009
By M. Fung "Meg" (London, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Prior to following the advice in this book, my husband and myself had been given a really gloomy outlook with regards to our fertility. But, we decided to take matters in our own hands, and change what we could via the fertility diet. Within 2 months I had a positive pregnancy test!
This book gave us hope, and a manageable set of structured guidelines to follow. It's so well written (with brief summaries and action points at the end of each chapter)- it became a real joy and positive journey to follow.
