Product Description

Product Description 3 Tier Ferret / Chinchilla / Rat Cage in grey Designed for ferrets and excellent for chinchilla's and rats. This all metal cage has no plastic parts, so chewing will not be a problem. The cage has three floors, with separate inwards opening doors for levels 1 and 2 and access through the hinged roof for level 3. The dimensions are 42" high, 17" wide and 27" long ( approximately 5 cubic feet), and the gross internal floor space is approximately 10 sq ft. This makes it ideal at giving adequate living space where room is at a premium. This cage should be great for up to three medium sized rats. The cage is 2cm x 2cm, the wire mesh floors are 1cm x 1cm.

I bought this cage for my chinchilla.
This cage came without any detailed instructions so it was a bit tricky to put it all together at first. But after seeing 5 drawings (instructions?)and sorting out the pieces I managed to put it all together myself in about 40 minutes. The only difficulty I found was to lead metal wires through the holes in the corners and I had to force it.
The cage is of great size and looks better than on the picture here. Shame the levels are made of mesh as well. Although I put some cardboard on top and on the sides to stop hay from coming outside the cage. I don't recommend building the cage on your own unless you're up to a challenge like myself.
I'd also recommend putting the large toys etc before attaching the levels as entrance doors to the levels are too small and it saves time to remove levels again.
Overall I think it is a very good cage for this price and is quite spacious. I'd recommend it to anyone, especially if you're on a budget.

These are pros/cons
pros - cage is spacious (three levels), cheap and much lighter than most; it has entrances for all the levels; good quality mesh wire;
cons - two bottom level doors are too small(!!!) and it's very challenging to remove levels when cleaning or trying to place any bigger toys/wheels on bottom floors

So overall very good cage. Shame levels are made of wire mesh instead of metal tray (similar to the bottom) and very small doors to two bottom levels. That

We have had the cage for several years and despite seeming a bit insecure to start with - loose clips - it is still going strong. We have had several generations of rats in it but no more than 3 at a time. There is lots of space for hanging hammocks and nest making. There is also room for our large rat exercise wheel. We use the three different floors as (from top to bottom): bedroom/living room, dining room, toilet/exercise yard.
I would definitely get the same cage again.

Brilliant cage, lots of space for my rats although some of the clips halfway down and on the bottom are abit flimsy (bend easily) but shouldn't be a problem as it still stands upright well, would buy it again my rats love going from the top of the cage to the bottom chasing each other and can't escape anywhere.

We bought this for our rats, assembly instructions could have been a bit clearer (they're decipherable with bit of experimentation) but despite this the cage was easy to assemble and is lightweight and sturdy enough for adult rats and the toys needed.

It's worth noting that if you have rats, you'll need plenty of carboard or similar for flooring as the internal floors are made of coated wire mesh which can sometimes cause bumblefoot in rats.

Overall a good, sizeable, sturdy and well made cage.

Many people have complained about how hard it is to clean this cage....

If you take off the bottom shelf (mesh wire, white) then you can lift the whole cage off to clean it...

Also this mesh shelf can then be cut to make 2 large ladders for the rats to get to the other levels because ladders are not supplied.

We have 2 rats and they love it..

A brilliant cage and would defiantly buy it again.

As said by most of previous reviewrs, the assembly instructions that come with this cage are at best appalling, but if you take your time to get all the pieces out and have a proper look it's pretty simple to work it out: front has the doors, sides have a handle and the top is the largest with 4 panels as it opens fully; the sides must interlock and are secured with the rods. It took me 30 min to put it up on my own and I'm far from handy building stuff, so maybe they've improved the cage design from the earlier reviews. It looks good, enough space for 3 or even 4 degus. There are two doors at the front and, as mentioned, the top opens fully so makes it easy to decorate, clean and have access to the pets. 4 stars as the shelves and base are all mesh which is 100% NOT SUITABLE for any pets (do a search for bumble-foot to see what I mean) so it MUST be covered with wood, cardboard, tiles or lino; they are indeed removable so in theory you can take them out completely and use suitable shelves attached to the sides, but I suspect the metal shelves adds to the general strength of the cage, so it's better to just cover it. Also the doors open inwards and upwards, which is very odd, as I have visions of it falling on the degus heads and tails while I try to hold back the three of them with one hand while trying to hold the door open with the other; so I got the boyfriend to invert them to open outwards - absolutely not a 5 min job, but possible.
In all a good cage for a fair price.

To be perfectly honest I was not expecting much from this cage. It is roughly half the cost of cages of similar size from 'big brands' and you generally get what you pay for. I thought it would do as a budget cage until I could afford better. However, I am very happy with it indeed and have no reason to consider 'upgrading'.

It is larger than it looks in the photos and is a veritable palace for the two rats I have living in it! You could definitely have at least two more in there, possibly more. There is plenty of room for all manner of toys and equipment without feeling cramped. The three levels mean that you can organise the cage into defined areas. As another reviewer suggested, I have the top level as a sleeping area, the middle level as a dining area and the bottom level as an exercise area. My rats love it and are constantly charging up and down the ladders chasing each other.

Some reviews have said that putting the cage together was difficult and took 45-60 minutes or more. However, I did not find this to be the case at all. I agree that the instructions are not perfect, but I had it all put together on my own in less than 15 mins. To be honest, it wouldn't be that hard to work out if there were no instructions at all.

An excellent product, great value for money, and highly recommended!
