Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Like a soda pop left open all night, Ferris Bueller's Day Off seems to have lost its effervescence over time. Sure, Matthew Broderick is still appealing as the perennial truant, Ferris, who takes one memorable day off from school. Jeffrey Jones is nasty and scheming as the principal who's out to catch him. Jennifer Grey is winning as Ferris' sister (who ends up making out in the police station with a prophetic vision of Charlie Sheen). But there's a definite sense that this film was of a particular time frame: the 80s. It's still fun, though. There's Ferris singing "Twist and Shout" during a Chicago parade, and a lovely sequence in the Art Institute. But don't get it and expect your kids to love it the way you did. Like it or not, it's yours alone. --Keith Simanton, Amazon.com

From the Back Cover

Ferris Bueller. Larger than life. Blessed with a magical sense of serendipity. He's a model for all tose who take themselves too seriously. A guy who knows the value of the day off. Ferris Bueller's Day Off chronicles the events in the day of a rather magical young man, Ferris (Matthew Broderick). One spring day, toward the end of his senior year, ferris gives into an overwhelming urge to cut school and head for downtown Chicago with his girl (Mia Sara) and his best friend (Alan Ruck), to see the sights, experience a day of freedom and show that with a little ingenuity, a bit of courage and a red Ferrari, life at 17 can be a joy!

This is a film that will lift your spirits every time. A real feel good movie, it delivers with a great story and first rate comedy. Matthew Broderick is perfect as Ferris, as is Mia Sara - his gorgeous girlfriend. Some reviewers have said it looks dated in places, personally I would say its a timeless classic. Has great music too.

You can go into the plot in some detail, which reveals holes - but the film isn't about an intricate plot. Just trust me when I say it all comes together at the end!

This film is well worth buying, because I gaurantee you will watch it again.....and again...and again....Just leave a few weeks in between or you'll kill its charm.

DVD version: great quality picture. Commentary by director. Not much else, but its not a hi-tec film. It gives you a great film with easy scene access - useful as some scenes you will want to watch over and over again.

The essence of the story: Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while - you could miss it.

The infectious joy of John Hughes's 1986 film ushered in a new genre of slacker comedy. Matthew Broderick with Mia Sara and Alan Ruck, is Ferris, the charismatic teenage hero who drags his best friend on a day-long road trip to introduce him to a few illicit pleasures before adult responsibilities lay claim to his soul. There are few more perfect illustrations of the teenage itch. In a previous decade, the happy-go-lucky Ferris would be a insufferable geek. Here he is the most enduring high-school clown in 1980s cinema.

I purchased this after a recommendation from Virgilio Anderson. I must say that Virgilio has exceptional taste, this movie is fab!

I am now going to look at some uniquely constructed buildings and listen to the sound of raindrops as they hit the sidewalk as these are other things recommended by Virgilio.

Good film, bad box
Arrived in good time but the box had small patch of rough, plastic which I is due to it being used before hand. No glitches on the actual DVD - loved the film!
